With the support of national policies,overseas Chinese teaching has formed a thriving situation.The differences in educational culture in different countries make overseas Chinese teaching face a complicated status.This article studies the current situation of Chinese teaching in American middle school,combines the foreign language learning habits and characteristics of American junior and senior high school students,and explores translation method,communicative method,and situation method based on a series of questions that emerged during the practice of overseas Chinese teaching.The practicality of the combination of the three methods of teaching in Chinese is in order to provide effective teaching strategies for Chinese teaching in junior and senior high schools in the United States.This article is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction.It states the origin of the topic and the significance of the research.It summarizes the previous scholars 'researches and teaching practices on Grammar-translation method,Communicative language method and Situation method.The second chapter is an analysis of Chinese teaching in Stratford Academy.The first part provides detailed background explanations on learning needs,curriculum settings,performance assessment,students situation,and teaching evaluation.The second part of the questionnaire survey analyzes the questionnaire.Including content of questionnaire,learning objects,learning motivations,learning goals,teaching problems and teaching methods.On the basis of the above two parts,the problems existed in the previous teaching,that is,the problems faced by the current teaching are raised.The third chapter is the teaching design.The first part explains the use of translation method,communicative method and situation method in elementary Chinese classes in conjunction with the HSK Standard Course 2.The second part is the basic principles of teaching design.The third part takes the seventh lesson of HSK Standard Course 2 as an example for the whole lesson plan design and explanation.The fourth part takes the result complement of the ninth grade as an example to show the lesson plan design for grammar teaching.The fourth chapter is the evaluation of teaching practice,which is explained in detail from six angles,the teacher,parents school leaders,students,HSK test results and student expectations.And then give teaching suggestions and conclusions.It puts forward specific teaching suggestions for overseas Chinese teaching and explains the deficiencies of this thesis.
