Teaching plays a cornerstone role in talents cultivating of colleges and universities.And the evaluation of teachers' teaching quality,which is the critical part of internal quality monitoring of colleges and universities,is also the key measure to monitor and promote the teaching quality of the college teachers.Based on continuous exploration and improvement,a great number of colleges and universities have applied evaluation on teaching quality of teachers.The adopted evaluation systems,schemes,and specific measures are of respective characteristics.And the teaching quality evaluation has been gradually and widely recognized.However,there are still a number of problems emerged during the evaluation process.In this paper,case analysis method,which takes Nanchang University as the sample,together with literature research method,policy text analysis method,and interview method,were applied to analyze the current teaching quality evaluation for teachers in Nanchang University,summarize the problems existing in the implementation process,and study the reasons causing these problems,thereby attempting to propose relative suggestions for optimization.This study is composed of six parts.The first part mainly introduces the background,purpose and significance of doing this research,and explains the ideas and methods for this study.The second part is the theoretical basis,which mainly defines the basic concepts and sorts out relative researches on evaluation of teachers' teaching quality at home and abroad.The third part mainly studies and analyzes the evaluation of teachers' teaching quality in Nanchang University.The students,teachers,supervisors,and administrators of the Academic Affairs Office of Nanchang University were taken as the subjects to carry out in-depth interview,thus to get to know the status quo and the subjects' opinions on the evaluation of teachers' teaching quality.As a matter of fact,though the evaluation of teachers' teaching quality has been implemented for multiple years in Nanchang University and obtained certain achievements,relative problems are also exposed,such as:students lack knowledge about teaching quality evaluation;supervisors show inadequate guiding function in teaching quality evaluation;some involved personnel "catering for" the evaluation;the organizers fail to arrange evaluation properly;and the feedback information to evaluation results is inadequate.The fourth part is the cause analysis.The reasons causing the above problems in teaching quality evaluation of Nanchang University were analyzed based on investigation and study,including:insuficient publicity and training for teaching quality evaluation;the supervisors' focus on teaching quality evaluation has not been completely transferred;teacher-student gaming exist in the teaching quality evaluation;focus on summative evaluation while neglecting formative evaluation;managerialism tendency exists in the evaluation;and conflict between disclosure of evaluation results and the protection of teacher privacy.The fifth part introduces the countermeasures and thinking about the evaluation.The optimization measures were proposed from the following five aspects:strengthen the cultural construction of teaching quality evaluation of college teachers;pay great attention to and strengthen the awareness of improvement;optimize the processing and application of teaching quality evaluation results;arrange reasonable time to carry out teaching quality evaluation;be guided by the learning outcomes of students.
