A Study On Reading Material Of Chinese For Children In South Korea:??????

As China's influence upon the world stage becomes greater,demand for Chinese language is quickly rising.According to a statement by the United States government,by 2020,over a million elementary and middle school students are expected to learn Chinese.In Great Britain,a private school designated Chinese as a required language.Geographically speaking,South Korea is close to China with active economic,political and cultural interactions.With China's influence growing in South Korea as well,there are increasing number of demands for Chinese speakers among Korean companies.As such,Chinese is becoming a required language among many Korean jobseekers.Elementary Chinese education in Korea is somewhat lacking in Korean schools.Thus,many parents are resorting to after school activities,attending private instructions and studying with parents at home using Chinese study materials.My research has revealed that there are very few reading materials for children.Thus,I have selected,the first Chinese reading material,"Rainbow Love Reading".I have analyzed the reading materials,identified problems and attempted to come up with solutions for such.This paper is divided into six parts.Initially,I introduce background of my research,methods used and emphasize the need for Chinese reading materials in Korea.Secondly,I delve into the topic of Chinese education for children in Korea as well as introduce some of Chinese study materials.In the third and fourth section,I introduce and analyze the reading material "Rainbow Love Reading".In the fifth section,the problems of this material are explored as well as some solutions.Lastly,the conclusion concludes with a summary and some last remarks.
