China and Korea are special neighbour in the history, geography, culture,economic, political and social connecting. The relations between China and Koreahas been close in more than20years. Language education becoming more and moreimportant as the foundation of China and Korea exchange. The work of Chineseteaching is also in a stage of development of "going out". Confucius institutes andConfucius classrooms have been "blossom everywhere” all over the world. Globalvolunteer project also arises at the historic moment. CPIK (Chinese Program inChesapeake) volunteer project also started between China and Korea in2012. Twocountries want to promote Chinese teaching to every primary and middle schools inKorea by taking this project. Facing the trend of overseas Chinese learners toward toyounger age, Chinese teaching to overseas children will becoming more and moreimportant during the work of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.In this paper, it based on the existing research on teaching Chinese as a secondlanguage at home and abroad, from linguistics, psycholinguistics, child psychology,children’ language development and second language acquisition theory combinedwith personal overseas teaching experience, through carrying on the questionnairesurvey to Chinese teachers work at elementary school in Jeollanam-do and studentsstudy in Hyeongyeong Elementary School at Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do andinterviewed for Korean native teachers, English teachers and foreign teachers etc. Wediscussed the problems should pay attention when teaching Chinese to Koreanchildren.In this paper, based on the analysis of the questionnaire, induces and expoundsthe situation of Chinese teaching at primary school in Jeollanam-do district and putsforward some problems still exist in Chinese teaching to Korean children. Thenaccording to characteristics of children’ language development and children’ secondlanguage acquisition compared the differences between children’ first languageacquisition and second language acquisition, and the difference between children’ and adult’s second language acquisition, then analyzes Chinese learning characteristics ofsouth Korean children, as well as Chinese learning advantages and disadvantages onthem; Then based on the above theoretical support and practical teaching situation itorganized difficult points in Chinese teaching to Korean children on Chineselanguage elements and gave some teaching strategy. Finally, it puts forward threeteaching modes and framework which are suitable for Korean children:"people-oriented" teaching,“edutainment” teaching and “culture into” teaching. Hopethis paper can fill the shortage in the past study about Chinese teaching to Koreanchildren from the theory and practice. And giving a scant help for the work promotingChinese to overseas children.
