Information and Communication Technologies(ICT)heavily overwhelm the contemporary education. The smart learning, the interactive classroom with online assignments and exams, all necessitate the use of ICT for the better provision of education across countries. There is a little research work, analyzing the acceptance of ICT in higher secondary schools(HSS)in developing countries, especially Pakistan. To fill the gap, this study attempts to evaluate teachers' acceptance of ICT in HSS in a developing country(Pakistan)using the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology(UTAUT).The study relies on primary data, where the data were collected through a questionnaire from the HSS teachers in five districts of KP(Bannu,Kohat,Tank,Hangu and Dera Ismail Khan),Pakistan.A total number of 385 valid questionnaires were receive and analyzed through SPSS to test the hypotheses and understand the relationship amongst the given construct. The study found that performance expectancy, efforts expectancy, social influence, and IT capabilities have a significant and positive impact on teachers' behavioral intentions while facilitating conditions directly influence user behavior to adopt ICT in their teaching. The teachers once intended to use the ICT will permanently use it and thus help facilitate the students with the latest methodology and audio-video aids in their teaching classes. This study is very useful for accelerating the pace of imparting quality education in the HSS in Pakistan. The results are highly significant for the teachers, administrators, regulators and government in Pakistan as well as other developing countries like Pakistan. |
