In team sports, team's achievements are derived from team members'contribution.Since the achievements are result of team members' cooperation,we should not regard the achievements as one member 's contribution. However,we can know a member's contribution from his performance and measure his efficiency using his performance data.Due to the advantages of DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis)method:without need for specifying parameters in advance, possible to handle various inputs and various outputs and without need for specifying relationship between inputs and outputs of decision making units.DEA method can give us a non-parametric solution without subjective preference on the issue of measuring the athlete's efficiency. At the same time, with the development of productivity, the division of labor in social production becomes more and more detailed, and more and more cooperation is needed. The DEA method can also be applied to such problems to solve the individual efficiency of the team. The first chapter introduction introduces the background of the topic, the significance of the research, the main innovations, the research methods and the structure of this paper. The second chapter first introduces the origin and development of DEA and some basic DEA models,as well as the shortcomings of the additive efficiency decomposition method of two-stage DEA model;then introduces the efficiency analysis of team sports athletes. The third chapter first mentions sports league and NBA related knowledge, then introduces the multi-period two-stage DEA model based on the returns to scale.Based on this model, combining the advantages of additive efficiency decomposition in two-stage DEA model,we construct a new multi-period two-stage DEA model based on variable returns to scale. At last,we apply this multi-period two-stage DEA model based on variable returns to scale to calculate NBA players' season efficiency score and calculate the players' global Malmquist production index. In Chapter 4,we consider players' playing time as input, points, assists, steals and blocks as desirable inputs, personal fouls and turnovers as undesirable outputs, using a multi-period eco-inefficiency model based on variable returns to scale to calculate players' inefficiency score of total games and each game. The Chapter 5 summarizes the content of the full text, points out the shortcomings of this paper, and looks forward to the future research direction.
