Compulsory education stage,geography course is only set up in the grade seven and grade eight,and in some areas,it is not be obtained in the test.Due to limited teaching hours and no exam,partial teachers and students neglect the importance of geography study.In addition,the teachers do not pay enough attention to cultivate the students' interest and comprehensive ability and many students are perfunctory just to meet the teacher.The Geography Curriculum Standards for junior middle schools proposed to construct open geography education pattern,guiding students to study the geography,which is useful for life and lifelong development,to improve the comprehensive quality of students.Driven by the background of social development,the transformation of education attaches more importance to the cultivation of students' practical ability and innovation ability,which constantly refreshes teachers' teaching view and students' learning view.The teaching modes adopted by geography teachers are gradually diversified,and more innovative teaching methods emerge continuously.Geography cartoon with its own humor,connotation and other characteristics,can be innovatively used as a novel teaching material,used in geography teaching,meeting the junior middle school students' psychology of seeking for new and different to promote the interest,timeliness and life of geography teaching.The combination of cartoon and geography teaching can activate the knowledge in traditional class,transform the classroom relationship,stimulate the students' interest and enthusiasm in geography learning,and improve their thinking and analysis ability subtly.Cartoon-assisted teaching broadens the teaching ideas,injects new vitality into geography education,and becomes a new way of geography teaching welcomed by teachers and students.To achieve the best application of the cartoon teaching approach in junior high school geography teaching,first analyzing and understanding the concept,types and characteristics of comic and geography comics.And find that cartoon teaching approach based on geographical teaching theory,constructivist learning theory,dual coding theory and multi-intelligence theory.Based on the literature analysis,using questionnaire survey and interview method to investigate and finding the present situation and the existing problems of the combination of cartoon and geography teaching in junior high school geography teaching.On this basis,put forward the corresponding resolution strategy.Based on the literature analysis,a questionnaire survey was conducted among the students in grade seven and grade eight of the three primary schools in Kaifeng city and Xinxiang city.Meanwhile,10 geography teachers were interviewed about the combination of cartoons and geography teaching.Based on the statistics of questionnaire survey and the contents of teacher interviews,the implementation status quo of cartoon in geography teaching in junior middle school is analyzed,and the problems are explored.At present,there are mainly the following problems in the process of cartoon application in junior middle school geography teaching: 1 The geographical cartoon material used is humdrum,lack of timeliness,interest and representativeness,can not meet the actual needs of teaching;2 The interpretation process is not reasonable,the teacher's attention to the geography cartoon is not enough,the interpretation is superficial,explaining the cartoon question only in a passing,ignoring the subject status of student,lacking of in-depth guidance;3 The applied ways are not standard,lacking of an entire methodology,and there are a heavy form of light elements,the role cartoon play in geography teaching is heavily discount.Through analysis,the main causes of the above problems are as follows: 1 As teachers' insufficient recognition of the educational value of geographical cartoons,they lack creativity in both cartoon material selection and application;2 The use of comics for geography teaching demand higher requirements in teachers' ability;3 Due to pressure,some teachers lack of professional awareness and responsibility.Through literature research,interviews and questionnaire surveys,the following application strategies are proposed to improve the existing problems: 1 Teachers select cartoon materials that closely related to the teaching objectives effectively,pay attention to the rationality,typicality and timeliness of cartoon materials;2 Teachers interpret the cartoon material reasonably,take the students as the main body,lead them through observation to get the surface meaning of cartoon;Leading the students to explore the deep meaning of the cartoon;Inspiring students to reflect on the teaching purpose actively;3 Using cartoon materials scientifically: Using the cartoon as the leading-in of lass to create teaching situation;Using cartoon to resolve the major difficulties to make difficult into easy;Using the cartoon to pose questions to strengthen the students' body position;Using the cartoon as the class ending to sublimate the class topic;Encouraging students draw cartoons to improve their ability.The innovation of this paper: it is mainly focused on the topic,the current research on the application of cartoons in teaching is mainly focused on history,politics and physics,while the research on geography is less.Geography cartoon,the novel teaching material,fuse with geography teaching,which accord with the development of the current era and the requirements of the new curriculum reform,can broaden the teaching ideas of junior middle school geography.The combination of cartoon and geography teaching in junior high school can effectively meet the requirements of the new curriculum reform for junior high school students.It is hoped to fill in the gap of cartoon application in geography teaching in junior middle school,enrich geography teaching materials,improve the effects of geography teaching,and promote the development of geography teaching methods.
