At present,along with our country's level of economic development is getting better,the level of urbanization is higher than the past decades,the density of population is becoming more and more big and the environmental pollution is extremely serious.these factors lead to cost increase people's everyday life,people suffering from economic pressure also can be seen a serious problem,along with the social competition is intense,people tend to solve the problem such as insomnia,depression,so people have to master the ability to regulate emotions and strategies in a timely manner.On "positive emotion management" and "negative" emotion management aspects,in Lonsdale and North(2011)study,contrast analysis of the music is different from other leisure activities,research data show that people in the trials by listening to music,to self-emotion management significantly more than the other eight leisure activities(playing games,watching TV,watching movies,reading,sports,listening to the radio or reading a magazine,hobby).Therefore,the leisure activity of listening to music is the most important way for individuals to regulate their emotions,because music can be used to create and optimize both positive and negative emotions.When the author sorted out relevant literature,he found that many researchers have proved in experiments that when a person listens to music consistent with the current mood,he will feel different emotional regulation,which can make the listener experience the taste of "empathy".However,many people who like listening to music,use music frequently,they only know that the music brings them a good mood,and they try to adjust the negative mood in this way.However,many listeners do not know under what circumstances what type of music can be heard to relieve or enhance emotional feelings.This study aims to explore the correlation between music preference and emotional regulation in junior high school students,and further explore the degree of their emotional perception intensity to predict their musical preference by using regression analysis.Correlation analysis was used to compare the correlation between music preference and positive and negative emotions among junior high school students.Through the questionnaire "music listening emotion scale" and "music preference scale"to test the subjects,the number of final valid questionnaire is 225.In this study,14 different types of music were divided into four basic musical dimensions:reflective and complex、intense and rebellious、upbeat and conventional、energetic and rhythmic,in order to explore the influence of music preference in different dimensions,such as on positive and negative emotions,also the effect of subjects' musical preference on mood regulation.The results show that:1.The music preference of junior high school students is highest in the dimension of energetic and rhythmic.2.There are significant differences in music preference among junior high school students of different grades.3.Music preference of junior high school students is significantly correlated with positive and negative emotions.4.The positive and negative emotions of junior middle school students have different influences and predictions on different musical preferences.5.The music dimension of energetic and rhythmic has the highest preference of junior high school students,and the music emotion regulation effect of this dimension is the best.Therefore,rap/hip-hop music,soul/funk music and electronic/dance music are three typical types of music that can be the most effective measures of helping junior high school students to regulate their emotions.
