International understanding education was proposed by the United Nations in the 1940s.It means that through education,students can acquire knowledge about the world,respect and understand other countries' cultures,master the tools and methods of cross-cultural communication,pay attention to the problems faced by all countries,establish the social responsibility and strive for a better life for mankind.The purpose of international understanding education is to promote mutual understanding among mankind and promote peace.Cultivating international understanding literacy for high school students will help students cope with global challenges and achieve personal development.Therefore,exploring strategies for improving students' international understanding literacy in high school politics teaching can not only enrich theoretical research on international understanding literacy,but also provide guidance for cultivating students' international understanding literacy in practice.This article is divided into four parts.The first part mainly discusses the concepts of international understanding literacy,and summarizes that international understanding literacy of high school students includes four dimensions:world overview,multiculturalism,global issues and international communication,and construct the three-dimensional structure of high school students'international understanding of literacy.In addition,it also explains the reason why high school politics should cultivate the international understanding,one of the teaching goals of high school politics is to cultivate international understanding literacy,high school politics is the main channel for cultivating students' sense of social responsibility,the high school politics textbook contains the content of international understanding literacy.The second part discusses the situation of high school student' four dimensions of international understanding literacy by investigation,and the cognitive status of high school students' international understanding literacy,finds that the high school students'international understanding literacy has weak knowledge base,international understanding is not comprehensive,insufficient cross-cultural communication ability and low attention and lack of awareness of global issues.The third part mainly analyzes the reasons for the problems of high school students'international understanding literacy from the perspective of high school political lessons,mainly including domestic insufficient research on international understanding literacy,political teachers' lack of international understanding literacy and its education methods,schools do not pay enough attention to the cultivation of international understanding literacy and students do not pay attention to their own international understanding literacy.The fourth part explores strategies for cultivating students' international understanding literacy in high school politics,including improving teachers' international understanding literacy,digging and integrating the content of international understanding literacy in high school political textbooks,exploring the educational methods of international understanding literacy,and work with other subjects to cultivate international understanding literacy.
