With the development of economy and the need of society,the number of secondary vocational schools is increasing,and the physical education and health course of Secondary vocational school is the hot issue in the academic circles,but research on physical education and health course of the secondary school in the western poverty areas in China is still rare.For understanding the development of present situation and main problems of physical education and health course in the Xiang xi Vocational school,this study adopt the literature material,questionnaire investigation,logic analysis,mathematical statistics,expert interview method and other research methods in Xiang xi secondary school sports teaching objective,carrying out of guidelines for physical Education and health,teaching contents,composition of faculties,teaching organization and methods,infrastructure,teaching modes,teaching evaluation and other aspects of the field investigation and analysis,the results showed:(1)Physical Education and health course teaching :Each school has set curriculum goals according to the guidelines for physical Education and health;Physical Education and health courses are offered,and there are 64 hours per year for grade 1 and2;textbooks shall be compiled uniformly nationwide,but the development of localized school-based courses is not quick;the teaching content of most secondary vocational schools is relatively single,which does not have occupational characteristics.Only two of the secondary vocational schools in the city of Jishou have opened traditional national sports,and they don't reflect national characteristics of Xiang xi.At the same time,teaching mode is relatively unitary,and teaching organization and teaching methods are not flexible;evaluation contents are more traditional,but the concept of quality-oriented education has not been strengthened;(2)composition of faculties:secondary vocational schools in every county lack of high-education P.E.teachers,and it makes scientific research inadequate;the age structure is unreasonable,and there are a lot of young teachers;the number of teachers is insufficient,and P.E.teachers have heavy assignments in class,but they have low welfare treatment.(3)infrastructure: the single source of funds and lack of attention from the leaders have led to the inadequate physical education infrastructure in the area of secondary vocational schools.(4)Secondary vocational students are more rebellious,increased the difficulty of teachers teaching.According to the above problems,put forward the following suggestions:(1)Attach importance to the construction of teachers and improve the overallquality of teachers.(2)Strive to improve the quality of physical education teaching according to therequirements of guidelines for physical Education and health.(3)To increase the input of funds through various channels.(4)Establish a new type of teacher-student relationship and strengthen classcohesion and appeal.
