"Reading and discussion of the whole book" is the most important innovative teaching section of the latest high school Chinese language launched in 2017.It is of great significance to cultivate students' good reading habits and improve the quality of high school Chinese teaching.Existing "reading and discussion of the whole book" focuses on guidance strategies in the literature,mostly for the introduction of theoretical methods or the summary of personal teaching experience.Field investigation and analysis of students' reading and discussion of the whole book and a specific and practical reading and discussion of the whole book teaching strategy which was designed to solve the problems in reality were missing;This thesis is based on the study of “From the Soil” by Fei Xiaotong,one of the three books designated for reading in the high school Chinese compulsory course.On the basis of the existing research literature,based on the questionnaire interview,this thesis summarize the students' confusion in reading and the students' demands for the teacher's teaching method for the whole book,and explore it according to the author's own reading teaching practice.A specific teaching strategy to achieve the "comprehending and penetrating " teaching purpose was designed to make up for the lack of specific implementation of the teaching plan for the entire book reading.The author divides the thesis into six parts: the first part is an introduction and a literature review,which will briefly introduce the "whole book reading and discussion" and the origin of the study taskgroup research.Then the research significance of this thesis was discussed.And there came the related literature review on ‘reading and discussion of the whole book' teaching strategies,academic writing reading teaching strategies,and reading teaching of Earthbound China.The second part started with the value of “From the Soil” as the reading object of the reading and discussion of the whole book,then analyzed and summarized its teaching value from the perspective of the theme and language style of the whole book.The third part is based on the results of the interview survey.It summarizes the five points of confusion of the students: strangeness,alienation,powerlessness,distance,and boredom The forth part is through the survey results of the current high school students' reading interviews with this book.The corresponding reading guidance strategy of “From the Soil” was designed on this basis.The fifth part aims to achieve the goal of "understanding and transparency" in the teaching of the whole book reading of “From the Soil” and specifically designs a practical teaching strategy for reading and discussion of the whole book.The concluding remarks show the future of the teaching achievements of "Reading and discussion of the whole book" of “From the Soil”.
