Originally proposed by Mr Ye Shengtao,whole book reading has only really come into the language classrooms of primary and secondary school students after the curriculum reform.In the General High School Language Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)whole book reading is included as one of the teaching task clusters,dedicated to enhancing students' core literacy while cultivating their reading skills.At present,high school students' learning of whole book reading appears to be passive and negative in a poor way,and the number of high school students reading many books cannot meet the requirements of the curriculum standards,and this low reading rate should be of great concern to us.Accordingly,the author investigated the teaching situation of whole-book reading for high school students in Dandong City,using questionnaires as a first step and interviewing teachers and students as a supplement,specifically analysed what specific problems emerged in integrated reading instruction and examined the causes of these problems,and summarised the treatment initiatives accordingly.The study consists of four parts.First,the importance of the choice of topic,and the basic concepts and specific methods of contemporary research.The second part is mainly an analysis of the basic research concepts.And whole book reading instruction,And also the theoretical background of the study.The third part examines the status of whole-reading teaching in Dandong City High School through a survey and interviews,and analyzes the main problems and their forming factors.Research shows that the problems revealed by high school students in Dandong City in reading and learning of the whole book are mainly in the aspects of reading awareness,reading volume,reading purpose,reading behavior,reading method,reading evaluation,etc.In addition,they also show teachers' attitudes,teaching methods,skills,and gaps in testing and evaluation methods.In response to the problems mentioned above,the causes of the problems are summarised.The fourth part proposes a strategy guide for teaching whole book reading in high school.the content involves how education departments,schools,teachers,etc.should improve it,and also puts forward appeals from the perspectives of traditional concepts and social atmosphere,and integrates reading methods to cultivate students.In order to improve students' comprehensive reading ability and reading and writing quality,students' awareness of reading can be established.And introduce the case of the detection link of reading teaching in the whole book of "Rural China" for demonstration and explanation.
