With the development of technology,human beings have gradually entered the era of picture-reading times.As well-known pictures,illustrations play an important role in textbooks.Its existence gives people great vision and will convey the meaning of content in a more direct way,which acts as auxiliary function.In a word,in actual teaching process,illustrations are far more powerful than plaintext.Since the promulgation of the new curriculum standard for compulsory education in 2017,the importance of science curriculum has become more and more prominent,and it is very necessary to study the illustrations of science textbooks.This paper mainly focuses on the primary school science textbook of the Soviet education edition and uses the literature research method and collects and reads a large number of references to analyze the application of the illustrations of the primary school science textbook of the Soviet education edition.At the same time,this paper uses the investigation method to investigate the teachers and students and obtains the present situation of the application of the illustrations.From the results of the questionnaire survey,we can see that the illustrations of primary school textbooks in the Soviet education edition have following problems in the process of practical application: The first is that teachers lack deep understanding of the purpose of illustrations in textbooks and lowfrequency and narrow scope of application of textbook illustrations.The second is that students lack active learning willingness.And it is a failure to highlight teaching effect.The article further analyzes the reasons of these problems,which is that the thought of teachers is fixed and backward.Also,the teachers don't spend much time in reading and studying textbook,and the students' autonomous learning ability is weak.Finally,the paper puts forward some suggestions from three angles:teachers,students and schools,It includes the reasonable use of textbook illustrations based on students to carry out teaching,the integration of teaching resources in illustrations,the establishment of reasonable assessment methods for comprehensive evaluation,and the cultivation of students' ability to learn independently;For students,it is necessary to enhance the awareness of active learning and to learn to read pictures independently and create an environment conducive to their own study of scientific illustrations,and so on;For schools,schools should create an environment for science subject and attach importance to the cultivation of teachers' professional teaching skills.Through this study,it is expected to help teachers and students better use illustrations and play the real role of illustrations.
