Academicity is the fundamental attribute of university,and faculty is the important carrier of the academic nature of uninersities.Adhering to the academic-based idea is the necessary requirement in the construction of university teacher management system.The University of Chicago is an private research university of America that founded in 1890.Compared with some established universities in the United States,such as Harvard University and Yale University,the University of Chicago only has a history of 130 years and becoming a part of world-class universities in such a short time,which is inseparable from a high-level faculty team.And,it's academic-based teacher management system is the basic institutional guarantee of university academic.Therefore,in-depth analysis of academic-based faculty management system of the Univeristy of Chicago has certain enlightening significance to the teacher management system construction in the construction of China's double-first-class universities.This paper mainly adopts text analysis method and literature research method.First,it briefly reviews the construction process of the academic-based faculty managementsystem of the University of Chicago,which is mainly divided into start-up period,development and innovation period,improvement and system period.At the same time,it also emphasizes the formation and development of the academic-based teacher management concept in each period.Secondly,the paper discusses the faculty management organizations in the University of Chicago and their related management functions.The main body of administrative management is represented by administrative officials,which is mainly divided into three levels: university,college and department,while the main body of academic management are represented by professors,thus reflecting the“professor autonomy”management concept of the University of Chicago.Then,the key point of the paper is to deeply explore the each part of the academic-based faculty management system of the University of Chicago,including: the faculty recruitment and appointment management based on academic standards,the teaching management guided by serving academic,the scientific research management centered on academic freedom,and the faculty-based salary and leave management.Finally,by referring to the University of Chicago's experience,this paper puts forward three three inspirations on the teacher management system construction inthe construction of double-first-class universities in our country,that is,taking academic-based standard,to promote faculties' common management and improve the faculty management system.
