Facing the rapid growth of the number of disciplines in universities,the difficulty of internal management of colleges and universities is increasing day by day.In order to promote the development of higher education and cultivate innovation talents in China,a new form of organization called “Faculty System” came into reality.The rise of the faculty system can effectively integrate the resources of a university in different disciplines,which is more conducive to the cultivation of innovation talents.On the other hand,all-round improvement of university scientific research ability also needs to be realized through the faculty system.The construction of the faculty system is still in the initial stage,facing some difficulties and challenges at present.It is undoubtedly of great practical significance to study on the dilemma of the construction of the faculty system and give some countermeasures to get out of the dilemma.At this stage,the drive of the perfection of the internal management system,the need for talent training,the active promotion of the government,the requirement of the construction of double first-rate universities and the choice of the academic culture construction are the power resources to promote the construction of the faculty system.At the same time,the faculty system is facing the ambiguity of the orientation of the faculty,the conflict between the administrative power and the academic power,the insufficient depth of the discipline integration and the lack of coordination between different departments.The reason lies in the unified awareness of the leaders,the fear of change,the rigid boundary of disciplines and the portal concept of schools.Finally,the article puts forward suggestions,which are to clarify the macroscopic thinking of the construction of the faculty system,to optimize the organization and the management system of the university,to strengthen the institution design of the faculty and to select the appropriate mode of the faculty system based on the reality.Analyzing the dilemma and countermeasures of the construction of the faculty system in Chinese universities is useful to improve the management system of higher education and enhance the academic level of the universities.Also,it can promote the establishment of the modern university system.
