With the expansion of college enrollment scale,the employment of university graduates has become a social focus in recent years.Due to their important role of local economic development,the local university graduates' employment quality problem is particularly noteworthy.Improving local university graduates' employment quality has great significance to the development of society,universities and graduates.As a typical example,the H university was chosen to research the employment quality of local universities.The employment quality data of H university in the literature from 2012 to 2018 was investigated,and compared with the corresponding data of Guangdong province in the same period.According to the data,the undergraduate employment situation of H university is relatively good among the non-211 universities in Guangdong province or the whole country.In order to get more direct and accurate data on employment quality,a sample questionnaire survey was conducted on the undergraduate graduates of 2019 from H university.The result showed that the most of H university students came from the rural area of Guangdong province,but not in the pearl river delta.Their families' average annual income and parents' educational background are relatively low,so their social capital level is generally unsatisfactory.In comparison with the data in leteratures and reports,H university's employment rate after graduation for six months,the discipline-matching and job satisfaction are significantly worse in this survey.Therefore,the actual employment quality is not optimistic.Monthly income,discipline-matching and job satisfaction are the key indicators to evaluate employment quality.Basic information,social capital,human capital and career choice are all related to the quality of employment.Only 9.5% of the graduates choose to work in H region,their monthly income was the lowest in the survey.It indicated that the poor employment attraction of H region should be promoted.Based on the survey results and face-to-face interview to the teachers,the problems existing in H university graduates' employment was analysed from several viewpoints including employment enviroment,human capital,social capital and career planning.Following the concept of collaborative governance,some countermeasures and suggestions which follow were proposed to the graduates,universities,employers and the government as below.The government should actively promote the integration of industry and university,and encourage the employers to participate in the business of the major setting,training programs making,theoretical teaching and practical teaching;the government should also strengthen the macro-management to colleges and universities,establish a teaching-first value orientation,a effective teaching quality control system,a unified major evaluation system,a dynamic major adjustment system and a fair professional title evaluation system;the universities should improve their employment guidance and service,and establish a long-term follow-up system for graduates;the graduates should make efforts to promote their human capital,social capital,and establish a clear career planning as early as possible.Finally,the employment quality of local universities should be significantly improved through the joint efforts of graduates,universities,employers and the governments.
