With the great achievements and rapid development of the sports industry at home and abroad, various large-scale sports events held around the world have attracted global attention.Today,as a kind of large public events, sports events are closely bound up with politics, economy, culture, society, etc.,which increases the unpredictable risks of organizing the events. As an important part that cannot be ignored in the organization of sports events, mass media faces a series of challenges. How it reports on sports events is likely to determine the success of the event. For China, with the upcoming 2020 Beijing Winter Olympics, the discussion around sports news reports is again on the agenda. But at present,no matter from the aspect of specific practice or related research, the reporting of the China's Winter Olympics needs further improvement and perfection. Therefore, the media kit from the recent Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang will be a good reference for the news reporting of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. This article takes different news sources such as The People's Daily, the CCTV Sports Channel,Sports +,and Sina Sports' official Weibo as the main research objects. It uses the literature method, case study method, content analysis method and comparative research method to systematically summarize and analyze the status, advantages and disadvantages and shortcomings of the news reports from different media about short track speed skating of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. And based on these points, this article puts forward the strategies for sports events reporting that our media should have, which not only provides feasible suggestions for the sports news coverage of the 2020 Beijing Winter Olympics, but also a theoretical basis for improving the quality of sports news coverage in China's media and promoting the development of sports journalism in China.Through research,it is found that:(1)"People's Daily" as China's highly authoritative official media, its reporting mainly reflects objectivity and rigor;(2)CCTV Sports Channel,as the exclusive broadcast media for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, not only performed a full range of reports but also met the needs of different audiences through various forms of columns and online platforms;(3)Sports+,as a professional sports media, focused on the in-depth comment and analysis of the main reports;(4)Sina Sports' official Weibo,as a social media, interacted with the audience in real time during the reporting process, and its reporting content also showed more entertainment elements. At the same time, through the analysis of the overall reporting status,it is believed that media reports in our country still have the following issues: the information is more homogeneous;the sensitivity to emergency is low;the direction of public opinion is deviated;the "gold medal theory" is the mainstream;the number of Winter Olympics news practitioners is relatively limited;and the reporting purpose has its limitations. Therefore,it is suggested that Chinese media should accurately position their roles and give full play to their advantages in future sports news reporting. In addition to the healthy competition, they should also exchange and assist each other to make up for the shortcomings. They need to act well as a gatekeeper to rationally screen a large amount of information and enhance the depth of content,as well as broaden the field of news reporting and cultivate a "global" perspective.Besides,They're ought to increase the attention paid to emergencies inside and outside the arena and rely on the "agenda setting" function to correctly guide public opinion. Finally, they have to strengthen the supervision to each media department, providing all guarantees for the success of the event.
