The New Chemistry Curriculum Standards of junior high school encourage students to do more experimental exploration and innovative activities.Different kinds of schools are all equipped with fully functional chemistry laboratories now, which can not only meet the basic needs of chemistry teachers in teaching, but also help carry out several basic experiments of students stipulated in chemistry textbooks. However, there are few experiments helpings students to learn theories on junior middle school chemistry textbooks, and the chemistry teaching aids provided by the laboratory are too single to provide required teaching aids for teachers. That's why some teachers make self-made teaching aids. The author browsed relevant literature at home and abroad to understand the status of self-made teaching aids. Then, the author distinguished the concept of teaching aids and self-made teaching aids, and summarized the theoretical basis of the teaching of self-made teaching aids and the characteristics, functions and requirements of self-made teaching aids.In order to know about the application situation of self-made teaching aids in junior high school chemistry teaching, the study randomly surveyed 94 junior middle school chemistry teachers through a questionnaire in Chenzhou,Hunan province. It revealed that 89.4% of teachers believed that self-made teaching aids improved the quality of teaching effectively, and broke through the teaching difficulties and made up for the lack of teaching experiments. The result indicated that most teachers fully affirm the role of self-made teaching aids in teaching. In addition, more than 90% of teachers said that self-made teaching aids can cultivate students' practical ability, experimental exploration ability and innovation ability, indicating that most teachers fully recognize the ability of self-made teaching aids to train students in all aspects. However, only 9.23% of teachers often use self-made teaching aids in practical teaching, and the proportion of young teachers is much smaller than that of older teachers.According to the author's personal teaching experience and the characteristics of junior high school chemistry teaching contents, the study has carried out the practice of self-made teaching aids from four aspects: theoretical teaching, experimental teaching, student experiments and students' extracurricular experiments. The author made 7 teaching aids, analyzed the background of making self-made teaching aids, expounded the production materials and process, and designed the teaching process in conjunction with the corresponding topics.Questionnaire survey and interviews were used to conduct feedback research on the effects of self-made teaching aids on chemistry teaching for students and teachers. The results showed that self-made teaching aids have stimulated 66.98% of students' interest in chemistry learning, and more than 99% of students said that self-made teaching aids can attract their attention. It revealed that self-made teaching aids are effective means to stimulate students' interest in learning and attract students' attention, and play an important role in junior high school chemistry teaching.82.08% of students clearly indicated that self-made teaching aids can improve their practical ability.More than 76% of students thought these teaching aids can help them better understand the difficulties and apply knowledge to specific applications. The figures showed that self-made teaching aids effectively trained students' practical ability and knowledge application ability.
