Research On The Cultivation Of High School Students' Mathematics Core Literacy Based On Growth Mindset

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether students' thinking methods will affect their core mathematical literacy or not.We will investigate and analyze their mindset and the test of their mathematical core literacy based on the targets of the Grade one students in senior high school from Danzhou City,Hainan province.The theory of growth mindset will be applied to the mathematics of the two experimental classes for two months.So that we can investigate the influence on the students' mathematical core literacy level in mathematical classes with the theory of growth mindset.Then the data obtained from questionnaire and two test papers will also be analyzed by software,so that we can comprehend the current situation of the students' mindset and their level of mathematical core literacy.Under the analysis of the data from the questionnaire of mindset,the conclusions are as follows: There is no gender difference between boys' and girls' mindset,but generally the average score of the boys' mindset is slightly higher than the girls.The mindset of the students generally inclined to the growth mindset,however 30 percent of them with fixed mindset.There is a positive correlation between students' mindset and their mathematics core literacy.The more prone to the growth mindset the students are,the higher level of mathematics core literacy they will get.Through the analysis of the pre-test and post-test data of mathematics core literacy,it is found that the overall level of mathematics core literacy of the experimental class and the control class is low.In the pretest,the mathematical modeling literacy is the worst,and the intuitive imagination literacy is the best.Before the application of the theory of growth mindset in mathematical class,the difference between the experimental class and the control class is nearly 6 points in the average score,which indicates that there is a significant difference in the mathematics learning level of the two classes.After the application of that theory,the average score decreases to about 1 point,which indicate that there is almost no significant difference.The mathematical core literacy level of the experimental class has been improved among which the mathematical abstraction and mathematical modeling literacy increased the most,when the theory of growth mindset is combined into the mathematical class.The experimental results clearly show that the implementation of the theory of growth mindset in high school mathematical class can effectively improve the students' mathematics core literacy.Therefore,we put forward the teaching strategies of the cultivation of high school students' mathematics core literacy in this paper.As to students,the strategies are to examine themselves on their mindset,to train the growth mindset by themselves and to consolidate the growth mindset by themselves.As to teachers,the strategies are to understand their own mindset and form growth mindset,to create a growing teaching environment and a growing mathematics classroom and to construct growing mathematical evaluation and establish growing teacher-student relationship.
