As an important part of higher education in China, graduate education bears the heavy responsibility of reserving innovative talents for the society.Article 2 of the National Regulations on the Administration of Postgraduate Enrollment in 2020 also clearly states that the purpose of postgraduate education is to cultivate high-level talents with innovative spirit and ability. Therefore, how to improve the creativity of graduate students and promote the innovative behavior of graduate students has attracted more and more attention of higher education. At present, graduate students are affected by multiple pressures, and are facing various possible failure situations in the process of professional innovation, such as the failure of decision-making,the failure of methods, the failure of results, and so on.In the face of this series of failures, graduate students should learn to see it as an important learning resource, strive to grasp the opportunity to innovate, enhance their own innovation ability, and finally become the high-quality talents needed for social development. This study aims to explore the impact of learning from failure on graduate innovation behavior,so as to provide guidance for promoting graduate innovation. Therefore, based on Empirical learning theory,Double-loop learning theory and Psycho dynamic model of resilience, this paper discusses the relationship between graduate students' learning from failure, epistemology, resilience and innovative behavior through qualitative and quantitative research methods, and finally constructs the dual influence path of graduate students' learning from failure on their innovative behavior. The findings are as follows:1.Based on the grounded theory interview and scale test, this study developed three scales.Among them, the Postgraduates Epistemology Scale includes three dimensions:knowledge essence, knowledge acquisition and ability belief. The Postgraduate Resilience Scale includes four dimensions: emotional control, positive cognition, problem solving and support acquisition. The Postgraduate Innovation Behavior Scale contains three dimensions:creative seeking, prospective exploration and creative implementation. It was found that all the indexes reached the psychological measurement standard, and the three scales had good reliability and validity.2.Correlation analysis found that the relationship between the study variables was close.Learning from failure, epistemology, resilience and innovation behavior were positively correlated, and the correlation between learning from failure and innovation behavior was the strongest(r=0.523**,p<0.01).3.Regression analysis found that learning from failure(β=0.189,t=3.552***),epistemology(β=0.297,t=6.368***),and resilience(β=0.335,t=6.923***)significantly positively predicted graduate students innovation behavior, and the learning from failure dimension positively predicted epistemology, resilience, and innovation behavior, among which prudential had the strongest predictive effect on innovation behavior(β=0.456,t=8.802***).4.Intermediation effect test shows that epistemology plays a partial intermediary role between learning from failure and innovation behavior, and the intermediary effect value is0.274.Resilience plays a partial mediating role between learning from failure and innovative behavior, and the mediating effect value is 0.308.Specific dimension analysis,in which epistemology plays a complete intermediary role between reflective analysis, prudent attempt and innovation behavior, the intermediary effect value is 0.199,0.070;epistemology plays a partial intermediary role between experience transformation and innovation behavior, and the intermediary effect value is 0.277.Resilience plays a completely mediating role between reflective analysis, prudential attempt and the relationship of innovative behavior. The mediating effect value is 0.171,0.060;resilience plays a partial mediating role between the relationship between experience transformation and innovative behavior, and the mediating effect value is 0.236.5.The results of this study found that learning from failure, epistemology, resilience and innovative behavior of graduate students overall showed a moderate upper level. There are significant gender differences in innovation behavior(t=2.33*,p<0.05).There was no significant difference in the study variables in key subjects, employment experience, degree type and age,and there was a significant difference in learning from failure across majors(t=-1.93*,p<0.05).In the professional category, there are significant differences in the overall learning from failure, resilience and innovation behavior(F=8.494***,p<0.001;F=4.162**,p<0.01;F=5.773**,p<0.01;F=6.035**,p<0.01);There are significant differences in learning from failure in grades(F=3.694*,p<0.05).Based on the above research results, this study will closely focus on the individual graduate students, and consider the role of external support such as universities, graduate teams and mentors, and put forward effective strategies to strengthen learning from failure, enhance epistemology and enhance resilience,so as to promote graduate innovation.
