Research On The Niche Of World-class Universities

The construction of world-class universities is an important task of higher education in every country.The construction of world-class universities can effectively enhance the comprehensive educational strength of a country,thus promoting its development and enhancing its national strength in the long run.With the development of economic globalization,the communication between world-class universities is further deepened.Therefore,it is necessary to systematically view the development of world-class universities from the perspective of a larger organizational ecology.By introducing the niche theory in biology,this paper hopes to study the world-class universities from the perspective of niche as a whole,dynamically and comprehensively.Firstly,this paper constructs the theoretical framework of the ecological niche of world-class universities.Through the concept of the world-class university,the concept of the niche,the niche ecostate-ecorole theory,the niche overlap theory and the niche size theory,this paper constructs the niche ecostate-ecorole of the world-class university,the niche overlap of the world first-class university and the niche size of the world first-class university.It is used to measure the relative status and influence of world-class universities,the degree of competition between world-class universities and the competitiveness of world-class universities.Secondly,several niche models of world-class universities are constructed.Through sorting out the three important dimensions of world-class universities' educational quality,faculty strength and scientific research achievements,the research object is selected to rank the top 100 world-class universities in the academic ranking of world universities,and the hierarchy is divided.The niche ecostate-ecorole model for world-class universities,the niche size model for world-class universities,the niche overlap model for world-class universities are constructed.And Alumni,Award,Hi Ci,N&S,PUB and PCP are selected as their indicators.Finally,the data analysis of the niche of world-class universities is carried out.The results show that :(1)the group of world-class universities is dynamic,and the higher the ranking of world-class universities,the higher their relative niche status,and the higher their relative status in the group.(2)There is a high degree of niche overlap and fierce competition among the world-class universities in the world.But the degree of competition between different levels is different,and the intensity of the competition is also changing.(3)Niche size of world-class universities at all levels vary in different years,and the gap of niche size of world-class universities at all levels also changes dynamically.On the basis of this,the paper puts forward some suggestions on theconstruction of world-class universities in China,such as the optimization of ecological niche structure,the long-term construction,the reduction of ecological niche overlap,the coordinated construction,the broadening of ecological niche width and the comprehensive construction.
