The popularization of higher education has changed the traditional model of elite education,and the institutions and scale of higher education have developed vigorously.However,development is not only a process of quantity expansion,but also a process of continuous improvement of the quality of education.How to monitor and improve the quality of higher education has always been a vital issue in the development of higher education.To emphasize the role of teaching,improve the quality of university education and provide more transparent information to students,the government has introduced“Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework" and conducted a review of practice over five years.This paper takes"Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework" as the research object,analyzes the characteristics and effects of the framework,compares the audit and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work in China,and puts forward some suggestions on the development of the quality evaluation of higher education in China.This research is divided into five parts.The first chapter explains the reasons,research ideas and methods of the topic.The second chapter summarizes the historical evolution of UK higher education assessment,introduces the background of“Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework" in the UK,and clarifies the current problems faced by UK higher education,the policy objectives for future development and the significance of the Teaching Excellence Framework to the development of UK higher education.The third chapter for the teaching excellence framework as the main body,this paper expounds the precondition for teaching excellence framework evaluation,assessment system,assessment standards and assessment process,on this basis,the characteristics and results of Teaching Excellence Framework analysis,found that it has the following characteristics:adhere to the principle of subjectivity,in the interests of the students as the center;Diversity of assessment subjects;The assessment process is democratic.The fourth chapter analyzes the evaluation results and proposes that the implementation of the Teaching Excellence Framework can improve the teaching quality and efficiency of UK higher education and promote social mobility.The assessment results may be linked to the UK higher education institutions of tuition fees,affecting the funding of universities;Assessment can can promote the market-oriented development of higher education,and use the market competition mechanism to stimulate the quality of British higher education Ascension.The fifth chapter expounds the types and characteristics of the comprehensive assessment of Chinese universities,selects the audit and assessment of undergraduate teaching work in ordinary institutions of higher learning,compares it with the UK teaching excellence framework assessment from three aspects assessment concept,assessment index and assessment subject,and puts forward some useful inspirations for the audit and assessment of Chinese universitiesThis study believes that the evaluation of colleges and universities in China should improve the evaluation system of colleges and universities by establishing the evaluation concept of student-centered,improving the participation of multiple subjects,combining qualitative and quantitative evaluation in the evaluation process,and making the evaluation results open and transparent,so as to improve the education and teaching work of colleges and universities more effectively with the help of evaluation.
