The new curriculum standard of high school geography in 2017 explicitly requires the use of geographic information technology to explore issues related to physical geography and human geography.Geographic information technology(GIS),as an era product of the combination of modern information technology and geographical science,has attracted much attention from the society.Some studies have shown that Geographic Information System as the representative of geographic information technology has been widely used in the middle school geography teaching,but the theoretical research is relatively mature,and the practical application research is relatively weak,which needs further exploration and improvement.Therefore,it is of practical value to carry out the application research of GIS in geography teaching in middle schools to guide and enrich geography teaching.This paper,by designing a questionnaire on the application of GIS in geography teaching,analyzes the current problems and puts forward corresponding strategies and suggestions.The basic functions of GIS software are combined with the key contents of geography teaching in middle schools to design application strategies.This paper focuses on how to give full play to the practicability of GIS in the application of landform and geomorphology teaching,design cases and practice them in real classrooms,and feedback their classroom effects,so as to provide reference for the improvement of geography teaching methods in the future.The thesis is divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly analyzes the research background,research significance and domestic and foreign research status of GIS application in middle school geography teaching,and then determines the research objectives and research methods by summarizing the existing shortcomings in the existing research.The second part is the GIS related software overview and theoretical basis,GIS related software,topography and geomorphology and related theoretical basis.The third part is the investigation and analysis of the application status of GIS in middle school geography.The questionnaire survey and other methods are used to investigate the application statusof GIS in middle school geography teaching,summarize the problems encountered in practical teaching,and provide strategies and suggestions.The fourth part is the application strategy design of GIS in middle school geography teaching.It studies and summarizes the knowledge modules applicable to GIS software,and designs the teaching strategy by combining the advantages of GIS.The fifth part is the typical case practice of GIS in the topographic and geomorphic teaching.According to the teaching strategies,three typical cases are designed,including the Chinese terrain,the influence of terrain on the distribution of settlements and traffic lines,and the contour line and terrain.The effectiveness of the cases is verified in the real classroom situation.The sixth part is the conclusion,which summarizes the main conclusions and shortcomings of the research,and prospects the future research.
