Career choice is particularly important for the future career development of undergraduates.Career decision regrets are negative emotions when career choices fail.Career choices are extremely important to college students. And optimistic bias in career choice is closely related to job hunting. In summary, the present study explores regret and ERP components of college students with high or low optimistic bias in career choice when they are engaged in career decision-making.Specifically,the study contains two experiments. In the first experiment, questionnaire measurement method and simulated scenario experiment were performed,in which we used college students' Optimistic Bias Questionnaire in Career Choice and career decision scenario simulation experiment. Then we measured college students' career optimistic bias scores and corresponding career decision-making regret levels. In the second experiment, laboratory experiment was carried out, using high-time-resolution Event-related potentials(ERP)and adapted Wheel of fortune game paradigm to explore when college students with different levels of optimistic bias in career choice made a career decision, what were their emotions like facing positive or negative feedback;at the same time,EEG data were also collected to analyze the ERP components: FRN and P300.The conclusions are as follows.(1)There is a positive correlation between optimistic bias in career choice and college students' career decision-making regrets;optimistic bias in career choice can positively predict career decision-making regrets;students with high optimistic bias in career choice tend to experience stronger regret in career decision-making.(2)Optimistic bias in career choice has an impact on college students' career decision-making regret.Specifically, college students with low optimistic bias in career choice have higher FRN and lower P300;however,college students with high optimistic bias in career choice are induced lower FRN and higher P300.(3)Optimistic bias in career choice have interaction with feedback results in the regard of P300.For college students with high optimistic bias in career choice,P300 is higher when career decision tends to be correct.;however, for college students with low optimistic bias in career choice, there is no significant difference in P300 amplitude between making correct career decision and wrong decision.(4)After 260-340 ms providing the feedback, negative results induce more negative wave FRN than positive results;positive results induce more positive P300 than negative results after360-460 ms of the feedback.(5)When facing negative feedback, students experience strong sense of regret;for ERP,in the Frontal brain area and Frontal-Central area,FRN amplitude is larger when career decision turns out to be negative. However,in the Central brain area and Parietal area, there is no significant difference in the FRN amplitude between positive results and negative results.(6)FRN has the largest amplitude in the Frontal brain area and Frontal-Central brain area, and then the FRN amplitude of Central area and Parietal area decreases in turn;the amplitude of P300 in the Parietal brain district is the maximum, and the P300 amplitude in the Central area, the Frontal-Central area and Frontal area has decreased in turn.
