With the increasing quality of tourism demand,the quality requirements of tourism talents have increased accordingly.Higher vocational colleges("higher vocational colleges" for short),as the main position for training high-quality tourism professionals,and the practical teaching system is difficult to meet the needs of the tourism market.The purpose of this article is to improve and optimize the existing practical teaching system of tourism management in higher vocational colleges,in order to improve the comprehensive professional ability of tourism talents,truly meet the demand for talents in the tourism industry,and continuously promote high-quality development of tourism vocational education.The practical teaching system for tourism management majors is based on the training objectives of tourism management professionals,using a systematic approach to scientifically develop and reasonably arrange professional training and internship activities oriented by vocational abilities,that organic whole consists of objectives,content,guarantee,and evaluation.This article uses the literature method,survey research method,and statistical analysis method to investigate the demand for talents in the tourism industry and the current status of the practical teaching system for tourism management in higher vocational colleges,so as to analyze the contradiction between the supply and demand of tourism talents,and find out the problems in the practical teaching system of the tourism management major in higher vocational colleges.Guided by system theory,competency-based theory,and constructivism theory,from the aspects of practical teaching goals,practical teaching content,practical teaching teachers,practical teaching bases,and practical teaching evaluation,to put forward corresponding optimization strategies.The demand for talents in the tourism industry and questionnaire surveys in five higher vocational colleges show that the practical ability of students in tourism management is not yet adapted to the needs of the industry.According to the above survey results,the new situation of the tourism industry is clear about the complex,developmental,and innovative requirements of tourism talents.The dislocation of the supply and demand of tourism talentsis mainly manifested in the contradiction between the pertinence of enterprise needs and the ambiguity of practical teaching goals,the contradiction between the comprehensiveness of tourism industry and the limitations of the internship field,and the contradiction between the speciality of demand ability and the foundation of training capacity.On this basis,the in-depth analysis of the main problems in the practical teaching system of the tourism management major in higher vocational colleges: unclear goals of practical teaching,incomplete content of practical teaching,weak strength of practical guidance teachers,structural imbalances in practical teaching bases,and irregular evaluation of practical teaching,etc.Aiming at the problems in the practical teaching system of tourism management in higher vocational colleges,it is suggested to improve from the following aspects.The first is vocational ability-oriented,clear practical teaching goals,and strengthen industry standards and norms.The second is to deepen the cooperation with high-quality enterprises to optimize the practical teaching content.The third is to build a "double teacher" teacher team and strengthen practical teaching capabilities.The fourth is to focus on internal and external linkages,strengthen scientific planning and management,and improve the level of training bases.The fifth is to introduce multiple evaluation subjects,improve teaching evaluation indicators,and strengthen feedback functions.
