Research objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the intervention effect of hip abductor resistance strength training adding to ankle muscle strength and proprioception training on college students with functional ankle instability. This research can provide a more comprehensive theoretical and practical basis for rehabilitation training of functional ankle instability. Methods:In this study,30 male students with unilateral functional ankle instability in Shenyang Sports University are selected as the research subjects. They are randomly divided into two groups: experimental group(15 persons)and control group(15 persons). In the experimental group, hip abductor resistance training and ankle routine training are adopted. And the routine training of ankle joint includes muscle strength training around ankle joint and proprioception training.Hip abductor resistance training includes: lateral straight leg hip abduction, clam movement, lateral stride, and standing hip abduction. In the control group, there are two training means: routine ankle training and hip abduction exercise with the same movement as hip abductor resistance training. The training should last for 8 weeks,3 times a week.During the study, the isokinetic hip abductor centripetal and centrifugal muscle strength tests, single foot static balance ability tests, star shift balance tests(SEBT),and Cumberland ankle instability evaluation questionnaire(CAIT)are conducted before and after the training for 8 weeks.Research results:(1)Isokinetic hip abduction test: after 8 weeks of intervention, the hip abduction centripetal and centrifugal peak torque, relative peak torque and total work in the experimental group are significantly higher than those in the group(P < 0.01);(2)Static balance test of single and double feet: the standard deviation of center of gravity moving track circumference, track forward and backward, left and right in the experimental group and the control group are significantly improved, comparing with that before training(P < 0.05).And it can be found that there are some differences between the experimental group and the control group(P < 0.01);(3)SEBT test: after intervention,a compete difference between the experimental group and the control group can be found in the four directions of AM,M,PM,P(P < 0.01);There are some differences in three directions: PL,L and A(P < 0.05),however,in Al direction are not. After the intervention, except the direction of AL,the distances ofexperimental group are totally greater than that of control group.(P < 0.05);(4)CAIT score:through the method of comparing before and after intervention, the CAIT score of the control group is a bit different(P < 0.05)and the experimental group was completely different(P <0.01).In brief, the CAIT score of the experimental group is higher than that of the control group(P < 0.01).Conclusions:(1)Hip abductor resistance training can improve the strength of hip abductor in 8 weeks.(2)Hip abductor resistance training combined with ankle routine training can improve the static and dynamic posture control ability of college students with functional ankle instability, especially the coronal posture control.(3)The treatment effect of hip abductor resistance strength training combined with ankle routine training on functional ankle instability of college students have better effects than that of ankle routine training combined with hip abductor self weight training.
