The Association Between Physical Self-esteem And Aggressiveness In Athletes Of Chinese University Basketball Association

In order to explore the relationship between physical self-esteem and aggressiveness,empathy's mediating and moderating effects on the relationship of physical self-esteem and aggressiveness.Using the method of psychological scale measurement,a total of 340 high-level basketball players from 24 teams in the Chinese University Basketball Association(CUBA)were selected to complete the Competitive Aggressiveness and Anger Scale,the International Reactivity Index,and the Physical Self-Perception Profile Revised in china.Results showed that:(1)The college male basketball players' self-esteem and aggressiveness were higher than those of college female basketball players;the female basketball players' empathy was higher than that of the college male basketball players.The level of empathy of secondary athletes was significantly higher than that of first grade.The physical self-esteem of the second position(scoring guard)was significantly higher than other positions except the fourth position(power forward).The physical self-esteem of the fifth position(center)was significantly lower than other positions,(2)Physical self-esteem has a positive predictive effect on aggression,empathy has a negative predictive effect on aggression,and physical self-esteem has a negative predictive effect on empathy.(3)Empathy played a partial mediating effect in the relationship between physical self-esteem and aggressiveness,but there was no moderating effect.Gender cannot moderate the mediating effect of empathy in the relationship between physical self-esteem and aggressiveness.Conclusion showed that:(1)There were gender differences in the physical selfesteem,empathy level and aggressiveness of Chinese college basketball players.There was a level difference in empathy.There was a position difference in physical self-esteem.(2)The physical self-esteem had a positive predictive effect on aggression.Empathy had a negative predictive effect on aggression,and physical self-esteem had a negative predictive effect on empathy.(3)Empathy had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between physical self-esteem and aggressiveness.(4)Gender can not moderate the mediating effect of empathy in the relationship between physical self-esteem and aggressiveness of college basketballplayers in China.
