The relationship between self-esteem and aggressiveness has always been the focus of attention. The traditional view thinks that one who has low self-esteem is prone to lead to attacks and shows many behavioral problems. Baumeister raises question about the traditional viewpoint that he thinks high self-esteem leads to aggressive behaviors because it needs courage to raise attack which is exactly the performance of high self-esteem. The third standpoint deems that there is no obvious relation between self-esteem and aggressiveness. Parenting style has a significant influence upon children's psychological development. This thesis intends to have a throughout research into the relations between self-esteem, aggression and parenting from the aspects of conscious and unconscious, namely the explicit and implicit levels. The first study uses the experimental method to explore the implicit attack and implicit self-esteem. The second experiment applies the investigation method to study to explicit attack and explicit self-esteem. Part three discusses the relationship between implicit self-esteem, explicit self-esteem and implicit, explicit attacks. Part four probes into the influence of parenting style on self-esteem and aggression. The following conclusions are drawn from the above-mentioned studies:(1)There is no marked difference in implicit self-esteem, implicit aggressiveness and explicit self-esteem between genders; however, on explicit aggression, there is obvious variation that the male are higher than female.(2)There is no significant difference in self-esteem and aggression between subjects from different source regions.(3)There is notable difference in self-esteem and attack between different grades.(4)There is remarkable difference between the groups of low implicit low explicit self-esteem, low implicit high explicit self-esteem, high implicit low explicit self-esteem and high implicit high explicit self-esteem in implicit aggression and explicit aggression.(5) The group of high explicit self-esteem is more likely to raise attack than the group pf low explicit self-esteem. (6) Parenting style has a significance influence on explicit self-esteem and explicit attack(7) Parenting style has a significance influence on the individual of the different types of self-esteem group and attack group.(8) There is no significant correlation between implicit self-esteem and explicit self-esteem. It is the same with the relations between implicit attacks and explicit attacks, implicit self-esteem and implicit attacks. But explicit self-esteem and explicit attacks are negatively correlated.(9) The mother's severe punishment has a negative predictive value on explicit self-esteem while father's warmhearted understanding is having a positive predicting effect.(10) Explicit self-esteem and the father's warmhearted understanding are negative predictors to explicit aggressiveness. However, it functions as positive prediction when the father refuses, denies, gives excessive protection or heavily interferes.
