The latest geography curriculum standard puts forward cultivating students' regional cognitive literacy.Regionality is one of the basic characteristics of compulsory geography subject.In current geography education,some teachers still pay attention to teaching regional knowledge and ignore cultivating regional cognition.Although metacognition plays a positive role in ability training,it has not been applied in geography education.The curriculum reform emphasizes the cultivation of students' ability,which is consistent with metacognition.This study firstly reviews the definition and dimension of metacognition,regional cognitive literacy and its cultivation,and video analysis method in teaching and research.Secondly,this study explores the dimension and manifestation of regional cognitive literacy in junior high school stage,constructs the observation index of regional geography class in junior high school and designs a questionnaire on the cultivation of regional cognitive literacy from the perspective of metacognition,and analyzes the cultivation of regional cognitive literacy in junior high school.This study shows that teachers combine students' cognitive experience to teach and arouse students' emotional experience,pay attention to guiding students to understand regional geography learning strategies and check regional geography learning level.However,teachers ignore guiding students to pay attention to individual differences in regional cognition,understanding learning tasks and regional geographic materials,and regulating regional cognitive process.This study also shows that teachers' professional titles and years of teaching are the main factors that influence teachers to cultivate students' regional cognitive literacy from the perspective of metacognition.Based on the conclusions of research,this study puts forward some suggestions to cultivate junior students' regional cognitive literacy from the perspective of metacognition.
