In the era of knowledge economy,in the face of rapid changes in the economic environment,the survival and development of enterprises is more challenging,the performance of employees also put forward higher requirements.Employees are no longer limited to the reliable completion of in-role requirements,but also need to take the initiative to perform extra-role behavior,namely organizational citizenship behavior.In the process of employees' organizational citizenship behavior,employees' behaviors are deeply affected by their perceived negative workplace gossip and interpersonal trust,and meanwhile,interpersonal trust is creatively taken as the mediating variable between them.Situational factors of coping strategies also influence the relationship between negative workplace gossip and employees' interpersonal trust,which has been poorly studied in the past.Based on the above reasons,this paper aims to explore the influence of negative workplace gossip on employees' interpersonal trust,thus affecting employees' organizational citizenship behavior,and the moderating effect of coping strategies between negative workplace gossip and interpersonal trust.Based on the theory of affective events theory,this study took workplace employees as samples,used 327 valid questionnaires and empirical analysis methods to verify the model and relevant hypotheses proposed in this paper.The main conclusions are as follows :(1)negative workplace gossip has a negative impact on employees' organizational citizenship behavior.(2)negative workplace gossip has a negative impact on cognitive trust and emotional trust;Cognitive trust and affective trust have negative effects on organizational citizenship behavior of employees.Cognitive trust,emotional trust and negative gossip in the workplace have mediating effects on employees' organizational citizenship behavior.(3)Proactive problem solving weakens the negative correlation between negative workplace gossip and cognitive trust.Proactive problem solving weakens the negative correlation between negative workplace gossip andemotional trust.Help-seeking weakens the negative correlation between negative workplace gossip and cognitive trust;Recourse weakens the negative correlation between negative workplace gossip and emotional trust;Identity rationalization enhanced the negative correlation between negative workplace gossip and cognitive trust.However,identity rationalization has no significant moderating effect between negative gossip and emotional trust in the workplace;There was no significant moderating effect between negative gossip and cognitive trust.There was no significant moderating effect between negative gossip and emotional trust.The results of this study theoretically enrich and expand the research on negative workplace gossip,interpersonal trust,coping strategies and organizational citizenship behavior.According to the research results of this paper,the following practical significance is proposed: reduce the generation and spread of negative gossip in the workplace in the organization,and create a good organizational atmosphere;In the enterprise attaches importance to and cultivate interpersonal trust,encourage employees to conduct organizational citizenship behavior;Enhance employees' ability to cope with pressure,and choose appropriate coping strategies.
