Since 2015,the State Council the and Ministry of Education have successively stated in several policy documents that they will further explore and develop a new pattern of STEAM education in primary and secondary schools.However,at present,there is a general lack of specialized STEAM courses in primary and secondary schools in China.The professional teachers required for teaching STEAM courses are also lacking,and the environment for the construction of STEAM courses is lacking in financial support.There are a large number of weak schools in the suburban areas and township areas.Due to the lack of necessary STEAM educational equipment,qualified STEAM teachers and a perfect STEAM curriculum system,weak schools must narrow the gap of development level in STEAM education with urban schools.There will be a long way towards the target.In response to the above problems,this research starts with an analysis of the characteristics of weak schools,and finds that weak schools are not only reflected in the “hardware” development level,but also in the “software” level such as teachers' and students' quality,parental education,and innovative curriculum construction.There are gaps between urban schools and weak schools.Combining with the localization of STEAM education development,this research aims at weak schools,trying to integrate STEAM education with the core literacy of disciplines,and connect primary school subjects(Chinese and Mathematics)with Scientific disciplines,and build special curriculums of weak schools using STEAM education concept.And on this basis,select weak schools to carry out curriculum practice research.This research focuses on the following issues:(1)How to develop a unique STEAM curriculum design for weak schools?(2)How to build a STEAM curriculum design model and how to implement the STEAM curriculum case?(3)How to test the application effect of the STEAM curriculum design model?Based on this,this research first sorted out the conceptual connotation of weak schools and the localization status of STEAM education through the literature;Then by linking STEAM education and the core literacy of the discipline,based on the STEAM education development environment of weak schools in suburban areas,from the analysis of subject factors,design principle analysis,design process analysis to build a STEAM curriculum design model for weak schools(also named as "CMS+PPP" model in this paper: Chinese-Mathematics-Science + Program-Project-Practice);Then,the curriculum design model was used to develop the curriculum and a semester of teaching practice was carried out in a school of a weak school district.The curriculum design and implementation process were described in detail through the curriculum design case;Kinds of evaluation methods are used to analyze the application effect of the curriculum design model.Through practical research and analysis,it is found that after a semester of STEAM teaching practice,the curriculum not only promotes the improvement of student literacy and personalization,but also strengthens the communication and cooperation between subject teachers,and more effectively drives the construction of interdisciplinary curriculum in weak schools.This proves that the STEAM curriculum design model(CMS+PPP)for weak schools proposed in this research is innovative and effective,and the correspondingly designed STEAM curriculum practice in weak schools is operable and feasible.
