With the continuous deepening of the basic education curriculum reform,nurturing the key competences of students has become an important issue for countries and organizations.Biology is an important part of the natural sciences.The cultivation of its key competences is of great significance.Autonomous learning is an important constituent element of key competences,which helps to promote the reform and practice of biology courses.Its evaluation system tends to be perfect,and it has achieved the connection of key competences,core subjects of biology,and learning results.Therefore,taking autonomous learning as an entry point is of great significance in cultivating the key competences of students' biological disciplines.This study is based on a review of the research status of autonomous learning theory,key competences,and key competences of biological disciplines.Through questionnaires and non-structured interviews,the current status of key competences education in Wuhan's biology disciplines and students' autonomous learning ability are studied.The status quo starts an empirical survey.In-depth data mining and analysis and comparison found that the current key competences training has the following problems: teachers relied too heavily on test points when formulating teaching content,their organizational activities were slightly weaker,their professional capabilities were unevenly developed,teaching evaluation forms were simple,and experimental teaching was subject to Limits,students' motivation for learning is not strong,lack of metacognitive monitoring and adjustment capabilities,lack of effective learning strategies and study habits,lack of sound laboratory equipment,fewer scientific and technological activities,limited construction of popular science sites,parents' The degree of emphasis needs to be improved.Based on the quantitative and qualitative research results obtained from the survey,this study proposes strategies based on perspectives of teachers,students,and external influence factors,and uses classroom teaching as a vehicle to explore how to develop students' key competences of biological disciplines from the perspective of independent learning.And targeted teaching cases based on autonomous learning to cultivate the key competences of students' biological disciplines are designed.Under the guidance of self-directed learning,nurturing the key competences of students' biological disciplines is practical and feasible.
