High school students' academic performance is an important indicator of students' academic performance.Research shows that academic self-efficacy and academic engagement are two important factors affecting academic performance.However,at present,there are few studies explored the impact of academic self-efficacy and learning engagement on academic performance of high school students.And the ways and internal mechanisms of the impact of academic self-efficacy and learning engagement on academic performance cannot be clarified.Therefore,this study adopts the method of questionnaire survey,from the perspective of learning engagement,to explore the influence of academic self-efficacy on academic performance.Further,we explore whether learning involvement can play a good mediating role in the relationship between academic self-efficacy and academic performance.In the first study,542 high school students was conducted,and the relationship between academic self-efficacy and academic performance was explored by using the academic self-efficacy scale,students' scores in Chinese,math and English on mid-term exams,and the total scores of the three major subjects.Pearson correlation and regression analysis method was used to analyze the data,and the results showed that academic self-efficacy and its two sub-dimensions were significantly positively correlated with Math score,English score and overall academic performance.Moreover,the results show that students' academic self-efficacy significantly predicts their academic performance.In the second Study,498 high school students were participated,and further investigated the mediating effect of learning engagement on the relationship between academic self-efficacy and academic performance by using the academic self-efficacy scale,learning engagement scale and students' mid-term test scores(Chinese,math and English).Pearson correlation analysis and structural equation model were used to analyze the data.The results showed that the relationship of high school students' academic self-efficacy and academic achievement were significant.Academic self-efficacy was positively correlated with learning engagement.There was a significant positive correlation between learning engagement and academic achievement.Moreover,learning engagement plays an important mediating role in academic self-efficacy and academic performance.The results show that there is a significant positive correlation between the sense of academic self-efficacy and academic performance,and learning engagement plays an mediating role in the relationship between academic self-efficacy and academic performance.Future research can improve students' sense of academic self-efficacy through psychological intervention or effective teaching design,improve students' sense of self-efficacy by promoting their learning involvement,and further promote their good performance in academic performance.
