Research On The Core Competence Structure Of Hospice Social Workers

The aging population has put forward higher requirements for China's medical social work in its infancy.In recent years,more and more people have recognized the "hospice care" of dying not to accept traumatic rescue measures but to reduce pain and die peacefully.In the 21 st century,social workers have become one of the important members of the multidisciplinary team cooperation model of hospice care services.Faced with the "capability-based" requirements of social work services,hospice social workers also need to clarify their capabilities to prove the value of social workers in hospice care services.The study of the core competence framework of hospice social workers has gone through three stages,and each stage has reached specific research goals.First of all,based on literature reading and policy analysis,this study initially screened and drafted 23 core competence indicators that may be required for hospice social workers with the agreement of six expert panel members.Then,based on the preliminary core competency indicator system,this study designed an expert letter questionnaire,conducted two rounds of modified Delphi questionnaires,identified 25 core competency indicator systems,and formed a core competency framework for hospice social workers composed of four dimensions: "theoretical knowledge","practical skills","value concepts" and "image characteristics".Finally,based on the core competency framework of hospice Social Workers,this study designed a hierarchy analysis questionnaire,invited experts to compare the relative importance of each core competency indicator pair by pair,and entered the recovered data into the AHP software.Therefore,this study clarified the weight of core competence indicators at each level.The results of the analytic hierarchy show that in the ranking of the first-level indicators,the highest weight is "practical skills".In the ranking of the secondary indicators,the core competence indicators in the top three are "spiritual care","empathy",and "care and respect".One of them belongs to "practical skills" and two of them belong to "value concept".Therefore,practical skills and values are the core competence areas that hospice social workers need.The formation of the core competency framework of local hospice social workers has certain value and significance for the education,practice and professional development of hospice social work in China.This study did not apply the research results to practice,and the reliability and validity of the research results need further verification by future research.At the same time,the refinement and in-depth study of the core competence of hospice social workers is also the direction of future research.
