Research On The Current Situation,Problems And Countermeasures Of Family Adoption For Orphaned And Abandoned Children

In China,there are a large number of orphaned and abandoned children who are mainly raised in institutions,which are not the best places for them.Although the institutions can provide the children with basic living necessities,they don't have the same warmth and education as families do.It is not the institution but the family that can guarantee a healthy growth of the children.In recent years,the Ministry of Civil Affairs has issued a series of policies to standardize adoption by assessing the capacity of the adoptive families.As a result,more and more orphaned and abandoned children have returned to normal families.However,China's family adoption assessment is in its initial stage of exploration.It mainly focuses on reviewing the basic conditions of the adoptive families and the attention to offering professional support services for the adoptive families is relatively less.Thus,the adoptive families are facing the problems of insufficient parental capacity,low degree of family integration and so on.In the new era,while achieving the maximization of the benefits of the orphaned and abandoned children,it is particularly important to cultivate a good family culture and to promote the integrated happiness of the adoptive families.The purpose of this study is to study the adoptive families of orphaned and abandoned children.An investigation of the adoptive families in Jiangxi province will be carried out by documentary method,questionnaire survey method,non-structured interviewing method and observation method,which is based on the adoption capability assessment project of Jiangxi province.Through the analysis of the basic situation of the adoptive families,the parent-child relationship,the social supports and the adoptive demands and needs,it is found that the adoptive families have the problems of low adoption ability,low family integration degree and insufficient supporting system.The causes of these problems are as follows: First,the adoptive families' abilities are inadequate.Second,social supporting systems are not working.Third,the relevantpolicies and systems are not perfect.Based on the professional knowledge of social work and relevant theories,the author puts forward the following countermeasures: First of all,government departments should perform their service functions well and contribute to perfect the policies of adoptive families.Second,improve the support system to provide social support and services for adoptive families.Third,in order to improve the ability of adoptive families,we should offer self-support to adoptive families;Fourth,we should strengthen social work involvement to provide professional services for adoptive families.Further,we can perfect the adoption assessment program and provide comprehensive support services for adoptive families.
