Research On The Influence Of Social Media On Family Intergenerational Relationship

The updating of Internet communication technology and the sweeping of information technology have a great impact inevitably on all aspects of human life.Nowadays,children have to leave their parents and families for their study or work.At this time,how to maintain the communication between family generations becomes a problem.This study takes the social media with smart phones as an example to explore the new interaction modes of family generations from the micro perspective of family intergenerational relationship.Nowadays,when different kinds of social media gradually penetrate into the family members' daily life,traditional interaction between family generations,such as oral communication,phone calls,and texting,gradually increase to diversified communication methods,such as video calls,voice calls,sending emoticons and sharing articles or music,etc.Thus,the interaction between family generations has been constantly enriched,and social media has naturally become one of the main channels for maintaining the emotional bond between family generations and communicating with family members.In the thesis,the peer who has been with the author for more than two years is invited as the research object,and different research methods,such as in-depth interview,questionnaire survey,literature analysis,multidisciplinary research methods are adopted.Firstly,the background information of family intergenerational interaction embedded in social media is described,mainly from three aspects: the update and iteration of media technology,the continuous development of network society,and the common needs of family members.Secondly,the current situation of intergenerational differences and interaction under the influence of social media is summarized with the in-depth interview data and questionnaire survey results of 10 research subjects.Based on this,the social media will reshape the intergenerational relationship between family members through the interaction of skills and ideas,so that a new communication scene and some new characteristics of intergenerational family interaction can be formed.In addition,the dilemma of intergenerational interaction and the reasons for the formation of them are explored.Finally,the relationship between media evolution and family generations is considered,andreflections are also given on how to use social media to shape a better family generation relationship.In conclusion,with the common use of smart phone as the one of the social media in people's daily life,family intergenerational relationship has been affected to a certain extent and presents a new scene.From the perspective of the relationship between the evolution of media technology and family generations,in the virtual network world constructed by social media,we need to view the relationship between technology and people correctly,and use media technology in our daily life rationally,so as to make the family generation relationship approach an ideal state and get a sound development.
