An Empirical Study On Total Factor Productivity Of Industrial Enterprises In Fujian Province

This paper takes the industrial sector of Fujian Province as example,and divides the industrial enterprises into six types:collective enterprises,limited liability companies,Limited by Share Ltd,private enterprises,Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan invested enterprises,foreign invested enterprises.Second,it carries out a quantitative analysis on the net fixed assets,number of employees,management expenses,sales expenses,financial expenses,total industrial output to reflect the operating situation of the above 6 types of industrial enterprises.Third,it calculates the growth rate of total factor productivity of Fujian's industrial sector and its 6 types of industrial enterprises,by using the Malmquist index based on DEA,which can be decomposed into technical progress rate and technical efficiency to better grasp the intrinsic power of growth of total factor productivity.Finally,it summarizes the conclusions and puts forward policy implications.After theoretical analysis and empirical study,the result shows that:(1)The contribution of local enterprises to the growth of Fujian's industrial sector has exceeded that of Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan invested enterprises and foreign invested enterprises;(2)The rapid development of private enterprises is an important part of promoting the growth of Fujian's industrial sector,because that:in the industrial sector,the private enterprises have the largest number of enterprises,the strongest driving force of employment,the largest contribution to GDP,and the highest total profit;(3)The total factor productivity of Fujian's industrial sector has been steadily improving from 2010 to 2015 year,having the average growth rate of 6.2%,and technical progress being the main reason for the industrial TFP,while technical efficiency decline being the obstacle factor;(4)Total factor productivity of collective enterprises in the growth rate of 13.8%,followed by the limited liability company(8.8%),joint stock companies(6.6%),private enterprises(5.3%),foreign invested enterprises(5.1%),Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan investment enterprises(2.3%).The innovation of this research lies in that:The existing literatures mainly studied industrial total factor productivity from the sub-sector and sub-region perspective,while few scholars paid attention to the heterogeneity of total factor productivity of industrial enterprises with different ownership form.Accordingly,this paper divides the industrial enterprises into six types based on the ownership form:collective enterprises,limited liability companies,Limited by Share Ltd,private enterprises,Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan invested enterprises,foreign invested enterprises,and then calculates and compares the total factor productivity of the 6 types of industrial enterprises,which is an extension of the field of industrial total factor productivity,and has certain innovation significance.
