An Empirical Study On The Degree And Performance Of Manufacturing Servitization In Jiangsu Province

Jiangsu province is a major province of manufacturing industry in China,but the overall manufacturing industry is still at the bottom of the industrial value chain.It faces the impact of rising labor costs,low technological content,lack of innovation,and intensified international trade competition.Under the general background that the tertiary industry exceeds the primary industry and the secondary industry,the manufacturing industry in Jiangsu Province needs to further advance towards service,then realizes the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure.The servitization of manufacturing can be divided into two aspects: input servitization and output servitization.Existing studies mostly start from one of them,and lack the analysis of the degree of service and manufacturing performance.Firstly,this paper summarizes the status quo of servitization in jiangsu province.Secondly,from the perspective of input servitization,the input-output table is used to calculate the degree of input servitization.Based on this,a static panel model is constructed to analyze the impact of input servitization on manufacturing performance.Thirdly,from the perspective of output servitization,we use the listed companies in Jiangsu Province as a sample to measure the degree of output servitization through two methods of service types and service strength provided by enterprises.From the four aspects of profitability,operation ability,growth ability and solvency,the influence of output servitization on manufacturing performance is studied.The results of the study show that:(1)The degree of input servitization in Jiangsu Province has been decreasing first and then rising.And the input servitization has not played a positive role in promoting manufacturing performance.The reason may be that the current input servitization in jiangsu province is still at a low level,and the investment in producer services failed to produce positive interaction with the manufacturing industry.(2)Manufacturing listed companies in Jiangsu Province tend to be service-oriented,but the degree of output servitization is at a low level.There is a U-shaped relationship between the degree of output servitization and corporate performance.Finally,based on the status quo and empirical research results,this paper proposes measures and suggestions for improving the servitization of manufacturing industry in Jiangsu province from the perspectives of government and enterprise.
