Analysis Of Farmers' Entrepreneurial Motivation And Its Impact On Entrepreneurial Performance

Whether in developed or developing countries,entrepreneurship has not only become a driving force of economic development,but also brought more employment opportunities.The report of the 18^th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed the development strategy of“promoting employment by entrepreneurship”,and regarded entrepreneurship as the critical motivation of promoting employment.In the rural areas of our country,the problems of economic backwardness,increasing farmers'income and employment still remain unsolved.This is mainly due to the narrow channels,single form of farmers'employment,and the lack of enthusiasm of entrepreneurial activities.According to the spirit of 18^th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,solving the farmers'problems is no longer simply relying on the government to provide measures to increase farmers'income,but depending on the farmers themselves to solve the problem of increasing income and employment.In the age of“mass entrepreneurship and innovation”,entrepreneurial farmers become the important group that are most numerous,potential and high-demand.They have become main force to solve the employment of rural surplus labor force,who play an important role in activating the rural economy,promoting the process of urbanization and improving the level of urbanization actively and steadily.In entrepreneurial activities,entrepreneurial behavior occurs as a result of the continuous strengthening of entrepreneurial motivation driven by internal and external causes.As key link in the process of starting a business,the process of generating and strengthening entrepreneurial motivation plays an important role in stimulating,directing and maintaining entrepreneurial activities.Therefore,it is not only of great theoretical significance but also of great practical value to analyze the factors affecting farmers'entrepreneurial motivation and relationship between farmers'entrepreneurial motivation and performance.This paper is based on 1080 samples of entrepreneurial farmers in Jiangxi Province.Firstly,the factors influencing farmers'entrepreneurial motivation are analyzed by using multiple logistic regression model,based on survival motivation as a reference.Individual characteristics?age,gender,marital status,education level,risk preference,skills?and family characteristics?per ca-pita income,government staff connections,family size?were selected as independent variables.As a result of empirical analysis,gender,per capita income,skill,risk preference and the number of family members are the important factors that affect farmers'motivation to start entrepreneurial activities.The influence of age on growth-type and value-type entrepreneurial farmers is negative,and marital status and education level have no influence on farmers'entrepreneurial motivation.Secondly,the influence of farmers'entrepreneurial motivation on entrepreneurial performance is analyzed by using ordinal probit regression model.The subjective performance,objective performance and growth performance of farmers'entrepreneurship are selected as dependent variables and entrepreneurial motivation is selected as independent variables.Choosing individual characteristics?age,gender,marital status,education,risk preference,skills?,and family characteristics?per ca-pita income,government connections,family size?as control variables.The result of empirical analysis shows that entrepreneurial motivation is an important factor affecting entrepreneurial performance.The higher the entrepreneurial motivation,the better the entrepreneurial performance.In addition,skills,family per capita income,number of family members,contact with government personnel,gender,marital status and risk preference all have significant effects on farmers'entrepreneurial performance.Education level has no effect on farmers'entrepreneurial performance.Finally,through the comprehensive analysis of the influencing factors of farmers'entrepreneurial motivation and the impact of farmers'entrepreneurial motivation on performance,policy suggestions are put forward from aspects of government and farmers themselves.
