Research On Key Success Factors Of Hotel Energy Performance Contracting Project

CO₂ emissions have caused many global problems such as global warming,rising sea levels and human sub-health etc.Contemporarily most of countries in the world are proposing a transition to a low-carbon economy.In 2008,China promulgated the "Energy Conservation Law of the People's Republic of China",2012 the central government issued the "Energy Saving and emission reduction" Twelve-Five plan,which means that the national strategic planning has covered the strategy of energy saving and emission reduction,but also shows that our country is vigorously promoting the construction of the two-type society.Faced with resource scarcity and environmental degradation,energy conservation and emission reduction has been raised to a national level.At present,the building energy consumption,superior to industrial and traffic energy consumption,is one of China's three major "energy-consuming".Hotels,compared with civil buildings,are more energy consumption thus leading to better energy-saving transformation effect and more benefit.In recent years,with the booming growth of China's economy,luxury hotels in China are in a substantial growth with rate of increase remaining at 10% every year.However,the average energy consumption stays at an extremely lhigh level,resulting in the management of luxury hotels being hard.Besides,energy consumption has become an important component of the operating cost of luxury hotels.Therefore,vigorously implementation of the energy-saving renovation in the hotel industry will have an important significance to both our country's energy conservation and emission reduction work and luxury hotels themselves.The practice shows that the Energy Performance Contracting mechanism is a very effective mechanism in the practice of energy-saving reform all over the world,so it will be appropriate and neccesary to introduce it into the hotel industry.However,there is inadequante research on the success factors of Enegy Perfromance Contracting projects in the hotel industry,which has partly resulted in the slow implementation.To slove this problem,the key factors that affect the success of the Hotel Energy Performance Contracting projects should be indentified.Meanwhile,what measures should be taken to better manage these success factors is also worthy of research to further promote this mechanism in the hotel industry.This research takes the hotel energy oerformance contracting projects as the research object and proposes an integrated research frame.Under the guidance of research frame, through literature research,expert interview and case study etc.preliminary identification of factors is provided.Then,by questionnaire and factor analysis,the key success factors are extracted from the preliminary influence factors.Afterwards,weight of these key success factors is calculated separately.Based on the identified factors and implementation reality,corresponding suggestions are presented to optimize the promotion of energy performance contracting mechanism in the hotel industry.The main achievements of this study are as follows:?1?China's Hotel Energy Performance Contracting mechanism and its implementation status is analyzed.First,the necessity and feasibility of an in-depth analysis and demonstration is provided;Secondly,the current situation of China's energy performance contracting is analyzed to recognize the existing problems;Finally,two successful projects are selected for case study to support the identified key success factors of hotel energy performance contracting projects.?2?Through the method of questionnaire survey and Factor analysis,it is found that 25 key success indicators constitute a total of 7 common key success factors.These 7 key success factors are: cooperation and energy-saving monitoring,external environment,hotel owners,energy-saving services companies,projects themselves,energy-saving transformation of operation and finance.The variance cumulative contribution rate of these 7 common key success factors is 63.682%,which indicates that all the key success factors can be effectively reflected by these 7 common factors.?3?Case study of the key success factors identified in this study.In order to verify the scientific nature of the key success factors identified in this study,the two key success factors in the successful cases in both industries are illustrated by empirical evidence.The empirical results show that the key success factors proposed in this paper are comprehensively evaluated in two success cases Has been verified.?4?Corresponding suggestions are provided targeted on the succsess factors of hotel enerfy performance contracting projects.In this paper,combined with the key success factors identified,suggestions are presented in accordance with the seven common factors,which will contribute to a more promising futher for the energy conservation and emission reduction.
