This paper estimated urban ecosystem service value(ESV)and incorporated it into the coordinated development index system to evaluate the coordination of society, economy and environment in the complex city system.Besides,a multi-objective linear programming was established to optimize land use structure.Beijing, the capital and one of the most developed cities in China, was employed as the study case.On the basis of panel data in 2003,2008 and 2013 for Beijing city, main results can be shown as follows:(1)During the study period, regional ESV of Beijing presented a U-shape curve, which decreased from 34,107.62 million Yuan in 2003 to 29,088.01 million Yuan in 2008,and increased to 32,047.47 million Yuan in 2013.(2)Construction land caused tremendous ESV loss during study period and resulted in negative gas regulation service value after 2008.(3)Beijing's coordinated evolved from preliminary unbalanced development with three subsystems to slightly unbalance development with society hindered during2003-2008,and then appeared to be barely balanced development with economy lagged in2013.(4)In the optimal land use structure of Beijing City in 2020,cropland occupy186704 hm~2,orchard occupy 135600 hm~2,woodland occupy 738000 hm~2,grassland occupy 121750 hm~2,water body occupy 74180 hm~2,construction land occupy 350530 hm~2,while unused land occupy 34286 hm~2.This study has practical policy implications for decision makers to effectively manage urban land resources for sustainable development.
