Research On The Impact Of Foreign Direct Investment On The Ecological Environment Of Hubei Province

The rapid economic growth in recent years has enriched people's material and cultural life,but also has caused some negative effects on the ecological environment.At the present stage,the principal contradiction in China has been from ‘the contradiction between the people's increasing material and cultural needs and the backward social production' into ‘the contradictions between people's increasing needs for the good life and the inadequate and imbalanced development',when people's material life has been satisfied,the demand for quality of life and ecological environment is increasing.Hubei province,which is one of the national important industrial raw material production bases,has been provided various types of industrial raw materials including steel,cement,phosphate chemical products,salt chemical products,and so on.After the reform and opening up,to develop its own economy,Hubei province invested on a large scale to the above industries,and the environment problem is becoming more and more serious.FDI as an important part of investment in Hubei province,its impact on the ecological environment of Hubei province deserves further study.Previous literature research method mainly put related data of FDI,economic growth and environmental pollution into existing foreign model to verify the theories,and then determine the relationship between FDI and the environment.In addition,the domestic research about the impact of FDI on the environment mainly focus on the eastern areas with high FDI,and the number of research on the central region is relatively small,and most of the analysis only focused on regional investment of FDI's impact on the environment,rarely further analysis the difference of the environmental impacts between FDI from Hong Kong and Macao Taiwan investment enterprises(HMT FDI)and other foreign investments.This paper summarized the possible impact of foreign direct investment on environment combined with the existing literature firstly,secondly summarized and analyzed the economic development of Hubei province in recent years,and then carried on the quantitative analysis of the relationship between FDI and environment in Hubei province,found that the FDI in Hubei as a whole had protected the ecological environment,and finally provided policy recommendations on improving the ecological environment,as well as some corresponding suggestions for foreign investment enterprises who invest in Hubei.The government departments of Hubei province should step up environmental management of domestic industrial enterprises and strengthen environmental supervision of industrial enterprises of Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan,and continue to improve the local environmental protection laws and regulations,actively promote the development of the tertiary industry in the province,and construct different cities according to the cities' different resources endowment characteristics,actively promote the public environmental protection consciousness,guide foreign to the green high-tech industry investment,complete province environmental protection system of vertical management reform construction as soon as possible;as for the foreign investors has been in Hubei investment,they can actively upgrade the existing production technology,for foreign investors who are ready to invest in Hubei,they can keep up with the development trend of the third industry in the province.
