Zhoucheng is located in the western part of Yunnan Province. It was the government of Binchuan county during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and is now a town under the jurisdiction of Binchuan County of the Dali Bai Autonomous Region. From the Seven years of Hongzhi in the Ming Dynasty(1494)Binchuan county established a state and built a city, which has a history of 526 years.Zhoucheng has a well-preserved pattern of ancient cities and a large number of ancient architectural relics. In July 2010,it was included in "The fifth batch of national historical and cultural towns".This article takes the development of the spatial layout of Zhoucheng in the Ming and Qing dynasties as the research object, based on field investigations, refers to the local history of Ming and Qing dynasties and related literature, and based on ancient and modern overlapping city site research method, rehabilitation research on the city defense system, streets and lanes system, and main constructions in the city during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The characteristics of the spatial layout, the historical stages of the development stage, and their connection with Northern cities and Central Plains will be further explored. This article consists of four chapters. The introduction includes the significance of this topic, related research trends and research methods. The first chapter mainly introduces the overview of Zhoucheng, including the environmental background and the evolution. The second chapter introduces the existing relics of Zhoucheng based on the field investigation, including the existing ancient city walls and bridges, the distribution of streets and streets in the city, and the preservation of historic buildings. Finally,it analyzes the spatial layout of the modern city and lays a foundation for the later restoration. The third chapter mainly restore the spatial layout of Zhoucheng in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, based on field investigations, satellite maps, ancient local history, and modern literature, the historical development process and distribution of city defenses, streets and lanes, and built in city are analyzed. And on this basis, preliminary discussion on the division of functional areas of Ming and Qing Zhoucheng.Chapter 4 analyzes the development stage and pattern characteristics of the spatial layout of the Ming and Qing Zhoucheng.Through systematic analysis and research,it is concluded that Zhoucheng was built since the Ming Dynasty and has passed through the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There has been no large change, and the internal space layout is relatively stable. Its development has gone through three representative periods, perfection, rapid development, decline and transformation.Urban functional zoning is gradually forming in the city's phased development, which can clearly divide the administrative management zone, cultural education zone, and residential living zone. The pattern characteristics of Zhou cheng have obvious dual attributes. On the one hand, under the infiltration of the Central Plains culture,Zhou cheng has formed a clear "Square city and cross streets" pattern, both the choice of city site and the construction of the city have reference to the Central Plains and Northern cities. On the other hand, due to the influence of geographical conditions and other factors, the pattern characteristics of Zhoucheng reflect the uniqueness of the local culture.
