The development of art education in the period of the Republic of China has an important meaning between the past and the future.The picture lesson sprung up in the late Qing Dynasty and continued to develop in the Republic of China.Its curriculum function changed from training graphics talents to aesthetic education,preserving personality and improving national mind.Meanwhile,curriculum structure and content settings also changed greatly.In view of the lack of literature and monographs devoted to the development of art education in Shandong Province during the period of the Republic of China,a complete historical data was presented in this article.By collecting large amounts of data and the corresponding selection and arrangement,the development of art education of Shandong province during the period of the Republic of China get to be systematic and complete presentation to the public,and it will contribute to a more in-depth research and analysis for the development of art education in this period afterward.The methods of the research in this paper are mainly about consulting literature.After reference to the Educational history as well as newspaper of education,consulting a lot of data and selection,the development of art education of ShanDong province has made a complete presentation to the public.Based on a vast amount of historical data,after data screening and finishing,the period of the Republic of China is divided into three stages,and different periods and backgrounds of the development of art education are summarized,namely aesthetic education and popularization,the development of art education in the period of the war and the restoration and reconstruction after war.First of all,from 1912 to 1937,the Education Department promulgated the corresponding laws and regulations to carry out the reform,changed and expanded the content and form of the picture lesson set up in the late Qing Dynasty.Drawing and manual courses were formally entered into the curriculum system of all kinds of schools at all levels,and played an important role in the reform of the national mind.At the same time,the social art education institutions were also established under the organization of the government.From 1937 to 1945,the art education of base area of Resistance Against Japan was combined with revolution,cultivating the talents needed for the war and issuing a serious of pictorials,which played a huge role in reporting the results of the war and encouraging and publicity.In the region under the Japanese puppet regime,school and social art education also had certain development,which started the art exhibition as the main form of development,and set up the fine arts training courses in Ji'nan mass education museum.In the 1945 to 1948 period,the government ordered to eliminate the vestiges of puppet art and other subjects,tried to retain talent,and promote the full restoration and development of education.Many of the colleges and universities,which were stopped by the war,were able to continue to recruit students in this period and to restore normal education and teaching.Thegovernment attached great importance to the reorganization and reconstruction of the public education hall,and set up an art training course in the summer and summer holidays in the museum,and invited the famous teachers from the province to come to the teaching.In addition,special art exhibition halls were specially set up in the museum,and various art exhibitions were held on a regular basis.This article excerpts a part of the documents from the archives,and records the teaching plans,courses and exhibitions of the museum.In the last part of this paper,five schools are introduced,respectively corresponding to the three periods,whose school development process reflects the development of art education in different stages,with the first art education courses of Shandong provincial first normal school as well as the woodcarving as characteristic curriculum in Lu Xun Shandong art school as the representative.The appendix of this paper is divided into two parts.One is a yearbook of Shandong art education development history,which is made by consulting a lot of data.The other part is the specific documents involved in the article,all of which are not published.
