Since 2007,the Confucius Institute at University of Zimbabwe began teaching Chinese,Its Chinese teaching scale expand year by year with the rising number of students and increasing Chinese types.However some problems in the Chinese language teaching exist due to some objective factors for example teaching materials and teaching methods.Based on study theory,this thesis intends to investigate the situation of Chinese teaching at the University of Zimbabwe Confucius Institute,with the use of questionnaires,thus to put forward problem referential strategies after analyzing the situation of Chinese curriculum provision,Chinese teachers?students and teaching materials etc.Based on my 2 year learning experience at the University of Zimbabwe Confucius Institute,1 want to carry a comprehensive investigation and analysis of Chinese teaching situation of Chinese department at University of Zimbabwe Confucius Institute.My purpose is to improve the Chinese teaching situation at the University of Zimbabwe Confucius Institute and find solutions to the problems faced by students.In the curriculum,the set time of grammar lesson is not reasonable,lack of practical and communicative lessons.It elaborate the situation of Chinese curriculum provision,showing the brief background about University of Zimbabwe Confucius Institute,when it started,why Chinese language was introduced,its benefit to students etc.The paper applies the method of questionnaire to analyze Chinese learners' basic situation and learning motivation,combining with problems of students themselves.The paper puts that full consideration should be paid to individual differences to meet the needs of different students.It shows the lack of clear teaching methods,shortage of teaching materials etc.Attention should be paid to the preparation of Chinese teaching materials and teaching methods so that students will not have negative thoughts towards learning Chinese.
