The full name of the CLS project is the key language scholarship program.This is a language learning project funded by the US government.Its English name is "critical language scholarship program".It has been implemented for ten years to 2017.With China's reform and opening up,short-term Chinese language teaching has also become a key language project.The CLS plan has attracted more and more American learners.The number of people applying for Chinese learning has increased year by year.Therefore,the project development point in China is also extended from one city(Suzhou)to fourteen cities(Suzhou,Hongkong,Harbin,Beijing,Shanghai,Nanjing,Xi'an,Chengdu,Qingdao,Xiamen,Guangzhou,Hangzhou,Shanghai).However,due to the short project time,the existing research data are limited.As a short-term two language training program,CLS has the characteristics of short-term Chinese teaching,such as short-term,focused and strengthened,but what does CLS mean?What is the specific operation process?What are the advantages and disadvantages?Not yet be known wildly,so it is necessary to discuss them.The main research methods in this paper are observation and investigation.Through a full and deep observation and investigation of the CLS project in Xi'an in the summer of 2017,we find that the project has three distinct features in the classroom teaching,the selection of teaching materials and the adaptation of the textbook,but there are some limitations in some aspects.This paper is divided into five parts.The specific contents of each part are as follows:The first chapter is the introduction part of the paper.It mainly introduces what is the CLS project,the development of CLS project,the summary of similar literature and the teaching ideas and methods of CLS.The second chapter mainly discusses the overall structure and designs of CLS project.In this part,it first introduces the concept of curriculum's structure of CLS project from a macro perspective.Then it introduces the teaching objectives of different courses(basic and elective courses).After that,two ways of testing curriculum objectives are analyzed.Finally,the way to ensure the smooth implementation of the project is analyzed.This part is mainly based on the understanding of the overall structure of the CLS project.The difficulty lies in applying the structure and design of the project to practice,and then are risen to a more systematic theory through the test of practice.The third chapter discusses the selection of CLS textbooks.This part takes the selection of Xi'an CLS project as an example,focusing on the determination of the content of the corpus,specific to the selection and compilation of news materials.The content of this part includes how to use the teaching materials reasonably,and repeat the content of the fourth chapters with the analysis of teaching hours,For the completeness of the structure of the article,the specific content is put into the fourth chapters.The fourth chapter is the teaching plan of CLS.It includes students' demands analysis and teaching hours analysis.Finally,specific suggestions for classroom teaching are given for CLS classroom teaching.The fifth chapter mainly analyzes the characteristics and limitations of CLS project,and puts forward suggestions for improvement based on teaching practice.
