With Chinese economy growing rapidly and international status improving constantly, the significance of China for whole world is obvious. A lot of developed countries and developing countries which include various ethical areas have established international relations with China on Trade Agreement. For this reason, learning Chinese has become the first choice besides mother tongue for many these national natives. Under this background, China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (short for "Han ban") emerged as the times require. For recent years, the project of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language has got a great achievement and attracted worldwide attention, so that plenty of foreign students studying abroad come to China and learning Chinese in diverse forms, because these learners want to know much more about Chinese and profound Chinese traditional culture conveniently. Among different forms, the short-term Chinese training courses in China draws more and more learners’attention, and be liked as its short time, abundance content, manifold forms of cultural experiences. At the same time, the Whole Language Approach is expanding in our country as well. This thesis based on the background and current situation of the short-term Chinese training courses in China, analyses the features and problems of that, combining with the context, conception, principle and application of the Whole Language Approach. It also discusses the applied conditions, necessity and concrete measures for the Whole Language Approach applying to the short-term Chinese training courses in China. In the end, this article analyses the limitations of both side and describes the prospection for this kind of application.
