The illustrated word class testbook of Cheng Zhong illuminative school is a textbook for children's literacy in the late Qing Dynasty.The book takes word as a unit and interprets Chinese characters.It divides the interpretations of each word into two parts,namely "brief explanation" and "detailed explanation"."Brief explanation" first annotates the sound,then explains the meaning of the word,and then demonstrates the word with examples;"detailed explanation" first annotates the sound,then explains the meaning of the word.At the same time,the book insists on illustrating with illustrations.It can be seen that this book is not only a children's literacy textbook,but also a dictionary specially written for children.This paper takes the explanations of "detailed explanation" and "brief explanation" in The illustrated word class testbook of Cheng Zhong illuminative school as the research objects.and studies them from the following aspects: the explanatory mode of "brief explanation",interpretation content of " brief explanation",the explanatory mode of "detailed explanation" and interpretation content of "detailed explanation",and compares them with the current dictionaries and dictionary explanations,finds simiarities and differences,draws on strengths to complement weaknesses,and helps the current dictionary explanations develop in a better direction.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,there are three chapters in this paper.Chapter 1:First of all,this paper makes a comprehensive investigation and Study on the interpretation of "Brief explanation" in The illustrated word class testbook of Cheng Zhong illuminative school,and concludes that the interpretaton of "Brief explanation" mainly adopts six kinds of interpretation modes,they are definition,synonymous training,from counter knowledge to positive thinking,species as training,change name,comprehensive type.and describes and counts the various interpretation modes in detail.Then it makes a careful analysis of the content of the interpretation of "brief explanation",and summarizes the characteristics of the content of the interpretation of "brief explanation".Chapter 2:Through a comprehensive investigation and Research on the interpretation of "detailed explanation" in The illustrated word class testbook of Cheng Zhong illuminative school,it is concluded that its "detailed explanation" mainly adopts three kinds of interpretation methods,namely,form training,voice training and map training,and its various interpretation methods are classified and described in detail.Then,the interpretation content of "detailed explanation" is carefully analyzed,and the interpretation mode of subject items is summarized.Finally,it summarizes the characteristics of the explanatory content of "detailed explanation ".Chapter 3:By using the comparative analysis method,this paper compares the interpretation of The illustrated word class testbook of Cheng Zhong illuminative school with that of Modern Chinese Dictionary and Xinhua Dictionary,finds out the similarities and differences in the interpretation of the three dictionaries,analyses their strengths and weaknesses,draws on their strengths to complement theirweaknesses,and improves the interpretation of contemporary dictionaries.The innovation of this paper is to study the interpretation of The illustrated word class testbook of Cheng Zhong illuminative school from the perspective of lexicography,to show the overall situation of the interpretation of The illustrated word class testbook of Cheng Zhong illuminative school,and to summarize its characteristics in interpretation.
