The English-Chinese translation material selected is from the educational work Education for Sustainable Peace and Conflict Resilient Communities(Chapter 6,7).This book mainly introduces a new concept of “sustainable peace education”,analyzes the influence of historical narratives on education and the factors hindering the development of quality education,and provides innovative solutions to the education problems in conflict-prone areas.The text is an informative text with standardized words and well-knit structure.Based on Newmark's communicative translation theory and combining with the specific examples in the translated text,the translator analyzes the translation of vocabulary,long sentences and textual cohesion,and summarizes different translation methods and techniques respectively.In terms of vocabulary,the translator mainly adopts conversion of part of speech and amplification.In the part of long sentences,the methods of embedding,division,inversion and recasting are employed.The translator also analyzes the translation of demonstrative reference and omission cohesion in textual cohesion.On the one hand,it is hoped that this translation practice will increase the understanding of relevant domestic researchers on the concepts related to sustainable peace education,enrich the connotation of domestic peace education,and then promote its development.On the other hand,it is also hoped that this practice will provide a referable method for the translation of such texts in the future.
