“Sealize” is a new conception which means the inscription of a seal should accord with the basic rules of Chinese seal cutting.The conception has its unique and important position in Chinese seal study.“Sealize” appeared with Seal Cutting Art at the same time.It played different roles in different periods of Chinese seal cutting history.Nowadays,a mass of new style Seal Cutting works emerged.Some of them can no more be described as traditional Chinese seal.Therefore,in order to protect the independence of Seal Cutting Art,we should set a bottom line for it.By analyzing the origin and each step of this new conception in Chinese seal cutting history,we could give more accurate definition of “sealize” and further our construction of its theory.And this would be quite meaningful to the development of Chinese seal cutting at the moment.
